  • True BON is the MAN. But Brian could shreik out some great stuff...
have a drink on me, man that songs great...
BUT he can't sng it anymore come to think of it back in 83 he was about to burst a vien when I saw him during the \"for those about to rawk\" tour

Back in black was one of a kind,
for those about to rock was good too...
but after that ...I think they lost there soul  ...Just my opinion, I do relize I am not worthy on my best day to represent AC/DC on there worst day. oops:

 they are rock n roll legends for sure  :
  • Amen, brutha...if I were a band as great as AC/DC and lost Bon, those'd be big shoes, and Brian J did OK. But Bon was a natural, and he'd have lasted a lot longer too.
  • According to the young bro's the music was done and Bon even laid a few of the drum tracks down for what was to become Back n black. Would it still have been a great lp if Bon did the vox or was Johnson the deal breaker? And yes I agree B/B is a great lp.

What if shredds song bird gets sick just before the show and he brings someone else in for the gig and they were a smash would they still have been a smash with the song bird? Just some food for thought.

AC/DC rawks. No debate. But I still say Brian J couldn't carry Bon's jock.

If the songbird got sick? Wow. I'd be willing to bet she'd sing if she had a full body cast on. But...if for some reason she absolutely couldn't perform? Hm. We'd be paddling with our feet.
I'm not sure we could replace her. Maybe that's part of her ego trip. But the fact is, NO ONE is unreplacable, and in a crisis, I'd probably call that chick with the great voice who thought I was an ax murderer and wouldn't record with me. She sings great and probably knows most of the stuff we're doing, and could fake through the rest of it.
I'd just have to convince her that I just wanted her to sing, not be be a pet chained to my furnace...
  • But whats that? Where did they come from? Australia? OMG! :D 8) [/i]

    AC/DC - Oz's contribution to rock royalty.
That, and chix with devestating accents. 8)
  • Ok newbie here. At the risk of jumping in with the regulars, I have to post a few comments.

    1. This forum has been most helpful in unlocking in the mysteries of the GNX4. It has also been somewhat entertaining.

    2. Here I am surfing this forum looking for someone who is having trouble downloadin Guitar 3456's patches, like me and I get entangled with Shredd's love web with the country singer. I am supposed to be working on new songs tonight before band rehearsal and here I am reading this stuff. (By the way, great advice from Iliace on this. You definitely learn stuff ON YOUR OWN and use band rehearsal to polish). Fascinating. How does this happen? I'll tell you why, cause \"been there done that\" or seen others who have. It's powerful stuff if you are experiencing it personally. The power of a great looking women is unmatched.

    3. Manitou and Cobaltblooz are hilarious. I can't tell you how many times I have read their responses to this thread and LLLOOOLLLL!

    4. I'll close with this. I have played many weddings and private events. Especially at weddings there are many single chicks. I don't know why, but I can tell you how many times there were obviously single girls at weddings that I have played at and they LOVE
guitar players. So, for now, forget about your ex (get another bass player for crying out loud) and focus on what opportunity yields for you at the wedding. It will be there if you look for it.

    Later,

    JV
  • Hey shredd
Spring has sprung, when is the wedding gig?
Just curious as to when to expect a post gig report.
Oh it will have to be good, for sure!... The pre-gig build up
    And now the anticipation...
No doubt you have to be anticipating its arrival! 8)

Well, I hope the general consensus is amusement at people like meself, 'blooz and his acid wit, and the ever surreal 'tou....we're all here to enjoy music chat and expand our GNX horizons.
Plus, of course, I'm here to meet chix...
I hope all the off-topic banter isn't too distracting for the ones who're here for no other reason than to figure out their GNX's or whatever problems they're having with it. Speaking for myself, I'm just trying to have a little fun at the same time.

Meanwhile...yes, I'm totally looking forward to the wedding gig, which is June 13. It's gonna be fun, and I'm looking forward to at least a handful of single chix that'll be glad to keep a lonely git'r player comany...
I just hope we're ready. Both my ex and the songbird have new b/f's, and our gig/rehearsals/etc have slid down their priority lists. So...whatever happens, happens...and of course youse guyz will be the first to hear about it.

\"As If It Matters\" dept: my ex has fallen madly in love and is moving to north-central WY with her guy, where they plan to buy some land and will surely be married before the year's out. OK with me - that means I get to play bass AND git'r with the songbird. Sadly, the songbird has also found herself a boy-toy - barely shavin' - so she's sort of off my radar, as far as potential goes.

But at least I get to play...git'r... :?

We will be on a nation wide tour this summer...first appearance is at \"Laugh Til Ya Puke\" in Poofters Froth Wyoming on June 31st

This just reminded me of \"The Wedding Crashers\"....Shredd!...prime opportunity!.....\"FRESH BRIDESMAIDS\"!!!

This just reminded me of \"The Wedding Crashers\"....Shredd!...prime opportunity!.....\"FRESH BRIDESMAIDS\"!!!
But I'm not gonna be incognito...won't being a git'r player be sort of obvious? I might do better at your Poofters gig!

Anyway...since I'm not geeky enough to have a blog, I post here: I'm concerned about the spring wedding gig.
As I've mentioned, we're doing a largely country/western songlist, most of which I'd never even heard of before I started playing with the songbird. So obviously, I've put a lot of time into learning all this stuff so we at least don't sound like Bellevue day-room escapees. The songbird knows every song she's ever heard by heart, and the bassist has been playing with the songbird forever...she's not any better for it, but at least she knows the songs.

Here's my snit: both my ex and the songbird have recently - in the last few weeks - have found new boyfriends. My ex is actually \"running off\" with hers and will probably be married to him by years end. Nice for me; now I can play bass OR git'r with the songbird. If only I could sing.
Meanwhile, the songbird is still hanging out with the boy-toy, spending lots of time with him and getting her oil checked regularly.
So, the pertinent issue here (besides my building frustration at being the 5th wheel  ) is that we aren't practicing (it's been almost 3 weeks!!!), we haven't hammered out songlists or setlists (so I can focus on what songs I actually need to learn), and they're having ALL the fun  .
So...to all my trusty, beloved brothers-in-jamming - and 'blooz, too  ...what do I do??
  • Don't know if I am trusty or beloved but...........

Get the ole gnx primed and ready to go! Then the song bird and the X only have to stand up there and hold their instruments and sing. And you handle the rest (ain't that what the monkees did? and they got famous  ) That's one option.
Another is to tell'em to get a little more committed to this gig or you are out. Shouldn't hurt you in the fact you don't know anyone at this weddin'. But that sucks cuz you want it too! :(
Get up there with whatever you got at show time and Damn The Torpedos! If it don't look like any viable chick action, take full advantage of the free booze so you don't remember the train wreck. :P
  • See, that's why I love you guys. \"Dam The Torpedos\"!
Well...actually, I'd already brought up the idea to them of having my GNX handle drums. But they both want it to be a pretty much \"unplugged\" kinda gig, and regard my GNX with a trepidation that a caveman would regard a cell phone with. And though I didn't say anything to either of them, we'd be better off with my laying down bass parts onto the GNX too, rather than having my ex playing.
Although...she does do some decent backing vox. And stage presence - this isn't California, we don't have six-foot blonds growing on trees here. :?
So, I just go, play, have fun, ogle the songbird. She's HOTT.
My ex assures me that the songbird is more serious than she appears, and is more concerned than is apparent about having the gig come out good. The two of them had a \"train-wreck\" gig a few Saturdays ago, and while they laughed about it, I think the songbird was unhappy about it. My ex couldn't care less, she just thinks being a bass player is cool. Even if you suck.
But...even though I don't know anyone at the wedding (though I sure hope to meet some cute bridesmaids or hott single chix 8) ), free booze ain't gonna be the answer - there's a LOT of current- and ex-alcoholics in this town, and drinking is sort of seen as a social ill.
All I'm worried about is going there to play and looking like a chimp with a git'r, and sounding like crap. That's why I want to know the songlist well; then even if the other two are awful, I can play my parts right. And if I play well and the songbird sings, we're most of the way there, even if the bassist flames out. :?
Now, if this keeps up, for weeks to come...well, maybe the songbird can just walk in and play, but the bassist sure can't, and without knowing the songs, I can't either. So if they don't wanna put together a coupla/few good sets and go there ready to play, I'd have to tell them I'm out, and let them go play it themselves. They'd both hate me - but I don't guess it matters, I suspect neither of them have much love for me now.
  • Hey Shredd, I sure hope it works for you. No doubt you are taking all this way more seriously than the girls. I guess I would just practice my part on the guitar until I can play it without even thinking. That's what I love about the GNX4. Just load up a recorded .wav file or .mp3 backing track and work on the song by myself. If your ex is weak on the bass, maybe she will either turn it down or just drop out and let you carry the song. It sounds like she is there for other reasons than just playing bass anyway. And here is another idea. If you got your part down real good, you could record the song on the GNX4 and mix it down to an audio CD. Then give the disc to the girls and ask them to listen to and practice with the CD when you guys can't get together for practice. You can show them the way it can be done.

Speaking of which, I record every gig my band plays on the GNX4. Afterwards I listen to us and always learn something from the recording. Also, for practice, sometimes I just listen to one of our songs and I mentally play the bass guitar while listening to the song on my car stereo or having it play at home on the stereo while I am doing something else. The mental part is becoming really important to me in that I can play ahead of the recording in my mind and hear my notes in my head. Then when that part comes up, I listen to hear if I played it the way I \"see\" it. On the songs I play well, you could be talking to me at the same time I am playing and I would not miss a beat. That's the level I aim for. So maybe you could take the initiative to give the girls a recording to work with on their own. Even if they aren't playing their bass or guitar while listening to your CD, they would still be concentrating on the song at some level and getting more familiar with the songs. At least, you would be working hard to make it a success. And let's face it, a good vocalist with a single guitarist is all that may be needed so if you are prepared, you will be successful. Don't sweat the things you can't control. Just be there and be prepared for your part. Best wishes.
  • I know it is still knida soon. But have you talked to her/them? Did/are they getting you a projected set list? If they are still unresponsive to your needs (ain't most chicks?) Maybe grunt one out, such as I am getting ready to do! And head down to the local watering hole on a Sunday night and lay your cards down! I know I for one am tired of playing with/by myself!
