I'd been thinking that I was nearing that lofty 4000-post area...bolstered mightily by my ongoing quest for a woman that'll treat me better than shoe gum. Or at least return my phone calls.
And today it appears that it's happened...I hit 4000. And yet not ONE of you slobs has hooked me up with your wife's hott single friend. Thanks a lot.
And even more amazingly, after all this time here, I still don't know how to use MIDI. :oops:
But at least I've figured out how to change patches and connect the USB cable. 8)
But I'd also like to thank y'all for all the fun n games and exchange of info I've enjoyed here. It's been fascinating and very helpful, even if no one can explain how ODB's wife can be at least 3 points above him on the hott-ness scale. THAT'S the technique I want to master.

I have a friend who's married to this terrific Russian lady - Belorussian - who constantly encourages me to look there and is certain I'll find exactly what I'm looking for. And - in the same breath - warns me that way too many of them are looking for some combination of citizenship, pampering, or to take your money after putting up with being married to you for a year or two. And pre-nups are considered distasteful.

On a side note - why not just go to Russia and see for yourself? It might be a bit pricey, but if you can afford it, I see nothing to lose.

That exactly is my friends' suggestion. Based on what he says, that's the only way to do it - he says bride catalogs and set-up agencies will get you dumped and cleaned out.

Other than the citizenship issue, it sounds like the experience most of my friends have with picking out their american wives. I don't know if your odds are worse going through a mail order bride. Some work, some don't. All my brothers and sisters have been married and divorced to americans here in the states. I met my wife in the Philippines while in the Navy and we have made it 20+ years so far. I give the credit to her, she's the best. But I suppose there is a difference between a mail order bride and dating someone from a foreign country like I was able to do. Anyway, I hope you get happily hitched before the next 4000 posts!
Jeez, how long are you going for? Two pointers:
1. Go in late spring or summer. For one you won't have to deal with the cold, and for two food prices are about half of what they are during winter months.
2. Do not live in the center. Go there, but don't live there.
Round-trip airfare will probably be under $2000. Renting an apartment will be about $200/night, if you get it for a month. I'm sure you can find cheaper. You don't need a car; public transport will take you anywhere in the city.
$10k, tops.
Anyway...my friend said to meet some wimmins and actually have the chance to date and \"look around\", I should go for at least 4 weeks.
Between airfare, a place to stay, food, entertainment/dates, I figure 10 grand would be a baseline. I'd expect more.
Which is still easily worth it to find a cutie who'll come to the USA and be my pet girl. :P
But it ain't the kinda change I dig outta my couch cushions, if ya get my drift... :?
That said...how does one go about arranging things like an apartment for a month? A translator/guide? And where in all of Russia does one go to meet cute (and hopefully somewhat English-speaking) chix who dig American men?
Moscow is the most expensive city in the world. That's what I was looking at. St. Petersburg considerably more reasonable.

The chicks are hangin off the power poles here mate - something for everyone thats for sure. Don't worry about going to Europe for chicks, it seems half of them are here as backpackers. Thats why we have fruit to eat in this country because we rely on backpacker labour - no one else will do physical labour in this country. It would be cheap for you too - our dollar is crap at the moment, just look at the price I've just paid for my Rivera. Third, The last time I was in Denver--I think your close to there--the women were awesome. Especially the one I met in red and black flannel--yes flannel--sooo hot. Wimmens there are 3rd only to Texas and California. Ain't too shabby. Anyway bro, you need to hit the bars at least. Going to Russia always semed a little extreme to me.
