Shoot...if I read all my manuals I'd never get outta the can. :P I tend not to read them through, but refer to them as needed. Too much information for my feeble mind to retain.

when i hit 100 posts, then i feel that i have made enough of a contribution to show the studio in its depth.................the guitars,....well,i dunno if anyone here would really like to see a bunch of pointy stringed things :P i have all of those pics ready but no \"group\" pics so i have no idea how to pass it off without it looking like I'm \"bragging\" :( I'm just a redneck grease monkey thats in a neat arrangement for aquiring guitars in numbers.....do you really think anyone else would be interested??? :? :?.......... is anyone interested???? :(
  • Well, I saw the pics and I thought there was a few pretty tasty axes in there. And the fact that you've acquired them in such a way is no reason to think these guys don't wanna see 'em...lots of metalhead around here. Myself, I like the classics, but it's still a nice batch o' git'rs...
  • ^^^Thanks Shredd! 8)

    I tell ya what.........if 1(one) other person(any) is interested.......I'll do it

Get real. Did you see the pic of my first setup?!? (at bottom of this page:http://www.guitarworkstation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5670)
  • Hey Rawb, cool geetars. I too have a Peavey Classic. Mine is a VT series, but this one is a late 70's maybe early 80's. I rescued it from a garage where it had been setting unused for quite awhile. The power cord had dry rotted and the instrument input jacks were packed with insect mud. I still need to find a power lamp and lens. The owner gave it to me to get it out of his garage.

Some one along the way has put two ten inch speakers in the cabinet. Have no idea what happened to the twelves. Anyway I removed the amp from the cabinet, cleaned all the jacks out, replaced the cord and put new tubes in it and now she sounds quite nice.

Maybe some day I can put twelve inch speakers back but it sounds good to me.

    peace

  • Hey 'buzz...I absolutely love this room. Despite the cables on the floor, it looks like a great room to work/play in. And it's obviously nicely outfitted with great gear.

If I had a studio room like this, I'd have an attack kitty too. 8)

PS is anybody interested in the fact that I have a late-70's Peavey Special 130 w/Scorpion 12\", in mint condition? It's awesome, has sweepable mid control, and tons of s/state power. Even before I had my GNX, the thing sounded great and blazed volume like no combo I've ever played, except my friends' MesaBoogie 1x12 65W that melted my face off (hence my lack of female attention ). I've had it forever, longer than anything else I own, except a few cords...
  • lol... the cables are a bit of a mess but if you notice, the board is on a wheel-cart, so I can roll it to whatever area I'm recording in. I record alone so I need mobility. I can also roll it directly in front of my ref monitors for mixing. It's a great system for me.

There's nothing worse than having to get up and walk across the room to mess with the board while I'm trying to lay down a track. I lose the groove...plus I'm lazy :)
  • Dang Buzzhaze, compared to my 10 acre hobby farm. You have the dallas north 40 8) If I knock out a wall and develope some more rural space will my songs start to sound as good as yours?

Shredd, seems like everyone has all the nice maximizers and minimizers, mega track mixin boards, etc, etc. Here I am with my gnx and ptp. As far as home studios go, ya back of the line is where I'm at.

Mike, that peavey is a loud sob :o I was surprised. And I like the reverb and trem. on it. To me it fits the bill perfectly for jamming back on the bayou er I mean I think it would if I ever learned how to play!
  • Dam that's cool. I'd love to have a room that's dedicated to playing. My crapola is in my spare b/r, and there's not enough room to breathe, let alone step around the cables...

REALLY!!!.........I'm with Shredd on this! Untill i was 28,all i had was a few hit and miss pieces that didn't record well at all. Then i met my wife, who also plays guitar, and she pushed me a little and it got a little better with an addition of a tascam488.then i raised 2 teenagers  and i didn't get to really explode till they moved out and i sold my cars at 36  So i have a cool setup but DAMN i'm gonna be 40 in july and the dream of being a \"real\" musician one day is long gone now.So basically i'm about as content as one can be realizing I'm a washed up old fart with all the cool gadgets to accomplish nothing :cry Bottom of the food chain??heck,i traded my place in the \"chain\" for the Shoneys buffet :P
  • Hope this turns out ok.

    Last year's gear:

I've added equipment since then, but no updated pics, until I get the garage stage built and functional this summer!

I think it's an interesting effect - young guys'd give their left orb for a nicely set-up Les Paul, but it's not 'til you're an old guy with some dough that you put it all together. Kinda like all the old guys riding around on $25,000 Harleys. I've got more, and better, gear than I ever had, play better, do better recordings, and have actually written a coupla songs; yet I couldn't get a record contract or into a hott groupies' pantaloons if the fate of mankind depended on it.

    Cool! :D

Do you do more recording \"direct\"? or do you \"mic\" the amps?

    so what have you added??
  • \cyclonic\ wrote:

    so what have you added??

    - red Ibanez elec. bass guitar (red Yamaha bass pictured)
    - Mackie DFX12 mixer
    - PDP acoustic drum set (to use Roland TD20 module and triggers for electronic sound with acoustic appearance) 8)
    - 4 spotlights (56 lens total) with sound activated controller for automatic chase patterns
    - Fog machine (to enhance light show, or hide from the wife, whichever)

    Still to come:
JBL JRX125 cabs (x2 or x4), For Sure! You've got to hear these for yourself!
QSC power amp (RMX2450 or higher model, still deciding)
DVD Projector, for concert videos to jam with on full wall
  • No groupies???

You can use the fog machine to hide 'em from the wife!
  • \shredd\ wrote:

    Shredd,
You may have an 8 track recorder, but you really do have only a 1 track mind, don't you?

(jokingly): I have enough trouble with the wife, then to add groupies into the equation would only add more trouble, which I'd rather not put myself into that situation...:lol:

But I like how you think!

Actually, I have a Tascam 2488 - 24 tracks. And they're all - plus the one in my mind - assigned to my love of beautiful women.
And yet I'd re-task them all in exchange for one good woman that really loved me. :?
'Course, it wouldn't hurt if she sang/played, loved RUSH, and/or looked like Anne Hathaway... :D
  • I don't use the amp much since I have been recording pop/folk/country songs, but once the Hendrix and heavy stuff come out, I'll be warming up the MusicMan. The big Peavy bass amp only gets used in jams now. I like having a full PA but it doesn't get used as much while I'm on these recording blitzs

I've been running my acoustic & electrics through the GNX3000, then directly to the board (2 tracks, left & right) I have some very nice mics when the time comes :)

pretty low quality pic, mobile phone cameras are crap. normally have the GNX straight into the power-in but i think i took this pic when having a move about, hence the lack of cables ;D.

not pictured are my LP copy and my Edwards E-AL-120, which ill try and get pictures of at some point
