Attention Behringer Users

Heya man, i was looking at your rig and you seem to have quite a few behringer products. Soon i will be keen to get a few racks (EQ, Ultramizer, Ultravoice) and a SL2442 Mixer. How have you found your products so far man, cuz the best reviews come from people who have had experience with them. Also to anyone else who uses any form of behringer product be it headphones, amps, mixers, please leave somehting in this thread on what you think, good/bad points etc. Cheers all \\m/

  • I own behringer truth 2031a active studio monitors. Decent stuff. I'm really happy with them.
  • Oh they look like the high end monitors, awesome \\m/ DO you use any other rack effects too?
  • One more vote for B2031As - great ones. I also use UB1204FX-PRO mixer, which is decent too. For some time I've owned GX112 BLUE DEVIL AMP - not bad for the price, but the I don't like its distortion at all (don't need it, fortunately). There was one really crappy Behringer units I used and returned immediately - MIC200 tube preamp. There was too MUCH noise that it was absolutely useless. Also other people have had similar experience with this unit. All in all, I think Behringer is getting better.
  • Might have to go check those monitors out if you guys say they are good. I heard from a sound engineer that the preamps in the behringer mixers are some of the best out, so im real keen on getting one. Ive changed the topic thread to get behringer users not just aimed at \"GNX Jammer\" anymore.
  • I also have the 2031A monitors and I highly recommend them for use with the GNX.

  • I too am going to be purchasing the Truth2031A monitors, everyone that I've asked about them have nothing but good things to say.As for some of the other products they have, they just feel alittle too cheap to me.When I was in the the market for a little mixer, the UB 1204 pro was in the running to come home with me,but I did't really like the way the sliders and Knobs felt, long story short,I ended up buying the Mackie 1202vlz/pro,lost out on the sliders, but got much better mic pre-amps on board. IMO.
  • I have the 2442 as as submixer..it's nice..cheap and works great..have done 26 shows.. not a problem. Ultramizer is a cool unit, 2496, and most of the newer stuff is built much better! Highly rec..
  • Hey there guitar3456,your 2442 is that the FX-Pro or the MX2442A? If it's the FX-pro,whats your opion on the onboard FX? Thanks
  • I've used some Behringer gear over the years. The only one I had problems with was a rackmount equalizer, but then again, it took quite a bit of abuse. The piece worked, but one of the sliders came off. I am currently using the 2031 Truths and give them two big thumbs up :)

    Peace,

    Thomas
  • Yea, Behringer make some pretty good stuff for the money. I have a Behringer 32 channel 8 bus mixer, T1952 compressor and the Powerplay Pro headphone amp and I've had zero problems! Been thinking about getting a set of those Truths to compliment my array, but am still undecided. My Mackie HR 824's rock and I am very used to them.....We'll see....

  • I have the efx model...it's cool cause you get 2 independent ones based off of the ultramizer and virtualizer. I also have the automated DDX3216 and it ROCKS !! Nice to be at a show and just select the settings from venue to venue. It's easy to use but you do need to understand how mixers work. The automated process is cool but it's different from simple switches and faders. The price for what you get is phenomenal. It was 1399 last year, now it's like 600 bucks. Either way, both devices are very well put together.
  • I just bought the Eurorack UB802 Mixer... I mainly bought it so I can just hook everything up to it, and have that hooked to my computer... instead of unplugging and plugging all the time... I am really happy with it, some of reviews on one site said it was noisey... I have absolutely no noise at all from it, except my playing of course
  • I hear a little \"noise\" from my older Eurorack MX1604 in the form of an ever so slight hum sometimes, but it's pretty innocuous considering the style and overall levels I'm recording.

The HA4600 headphone amp and the B2 Pro mic are top notch, no problems and great quality.

I can't say enough great things about my original Truth B2031's (not the \"A\" model). Especially for the price I got them. My music dealer cut me a hell of a deal on them right as the A models were starting to arrive and he wanted to clear out his backstock on the originals. The specs on the A's look pretty nice, but it was just a 'too good to pass up' deal on the non-A's, so I took it, and haven't regretted it one iota. :P

I had one of the original Virtualizer Pro units several years ago. I suppose for the money it was a decent unit, but I bought it only to put in my home studio rack. I already had a GSP2101 in my main guitar rig, and I wasn't all that impressed with the Virtualizer unit. On top of that, I soon started picking up quite a few DirectX / VST plugins for my recording software, so external effects weren't really needed anymore. If I recall correctly, I think I sold it along with my POD 2.0 and a few other peices of gear so I'd have the $$ to buy my GNX3 without dipping into other fundage. :P
  • Just my take on Behringer in general. They are not innovators in the marked, quite the controray. They are followers. Most of their products are reverse engineering of top notch stuff you pay big bucks for. No, it does not give the same great sound as a $2000 piece of equipment, but sure gives good enough sound for your home recording to sound quite pro. So where do we benefit? Cheaper products as less money goes into R&D. Look at the V-Amp, it's a POD and will even import POD patches... The truths are a spin off of the high end Mackie monitors, etc... Their stuff is not cheap because of low quality, it is cheap cuz they don't have the huge product development costs that the market innovators deal with. Needless to say, there are certain \"things\" inside the Behringer products that make them different from the products they emulate - obviously for patent reasons...

    Just my 2¢,

    Thomas
  • /cheer Thomas!

However, there are just some things I won't scrimp on, like my DigiTech gear :).

I've been using DigiTech processors since the early 90's. The only other processor I somewhat miss is my ADA MP1, but I can get a close enough tone out of the GNX units that I don't miss it that much. The versatility of the GNX FAR surpasses anything my old MP1/Quadraverb/EL100 setup could offer.

So listen up Behringer, don't even TRY to copy the GNX stuff! Ya hear me?! :P
  • Agree, certain stuff is sacred - LOL :D No really, there are things I would not compromise on, but most Behringer gear is high quality at a great price. If you are shopping for gear, Behringer should always be in your consideration, especially if you are on a limited budget like most of us are ;) It really gives the most bangs for the bucks!!! I rarely hear someone complain about their Behringer gear. I know a bunch of folks buying Behringer exclusively. The argument is typically \"hey, I can get a mixer, compressor and EQ for the price of the Mackie mixer I wanted, and I know the Behringer gear is going to cut it.\" These are folks that know their stuff, and I will definitely take their words for it!!! A few GNXers have gotten the V-AMPS and are really impressed with that as it compliments the GNX quite well. Man, $100 for a V-AMP!!! What more can you ask for. It is a POD - LOL...

Anyway, my Behringer gear has never let me down and I will continue buying their gear as long is I need \"hardware\" gear. And hey, if you don't like it, return it :) If you buy from americanmusical.com you typically get a 2 year protection plan (MF don't offer this unless you pay xtra). Oh and BTW, I have the B1 condenser mic and I am very happy with it. It is the mid end mic (the B2 is 50 bucks more and better), but the B1 cuts it for me... 99 bucks!!! C'mon, if you want one sounding that good from any other manufacturer, you will have to cough up a few hunder extra ;)

Hmmm... that was another 2¢... 4¢ so far then :D

    Peace,

    Thomas
  • i own the 2031a's, and i think they go great with the gnx4 (which originally sounded like crap through my amp).
  • I disagree...I take both the mackies and Behr in for service..had many of thier products myself, entirely different. What they do, is make the exteriors look similar. If your eyes see something that looks like an 824 in a mag or a sales guide..you're going to look...Smart!! Overall the components are all their own. If it was reverse engineered, it would be more to reproduce. Even at current overseas rates. I laugh at musiciand that bash overseas gear and watch a SONY..have a Playstation, etc etc etc.. kind of a double standard !
  • Disagree... So we can agree to disagree and leave it at that...

No one ever said Behringer is the best sh@t out there... But for the budget musician, it is a very viable alternative to high end and ofter overpriced equipment...
  • What is the difference between the Truth 2031A's and 2031's? is it the \"active\" component hence the \"A\" or is there somehting else?
  • The A's are active and have built in amplification. For the non-A you need to amp your signal from you soundsource (mixer, daw, etc).
  • Interesting insight about the reverse engineering. I own a Behringer ACX1000 acoustic amp, HA4700 headphone distribution amp and a UB2442FX-PRO audio board. All have more features more less money. They're all extremely clean sounding and great to use.
  • Just so that is has been said. Reverse engineering does not mean exact duplicates of the \"original\". It's more like an emulation. If it was identical there would be violation of a IP and a bunch of lawsuits... The Japs were great at this at the beginning of the electronics ventures. Now it has turned and they are innovating vs following. Innovating always carries more development cost...

think about it... When did you ever hear about Behringer being first on the market with new technology???

And if you remember back to the days when Alesis and Mackie got started, well they were sorta labeled as \"not so good stuff\" back then. Look at Mackie now!!!

Actually, the plain old 2031 / \"non-A's\" are powered. The 2031P's are the non powered version.

    SPECS for the original B2031's.

    SPECS for the B2031A's

    SPECS for the B2031P's

Main differences between the three are that the A's have a new built in crossover and frequency response from 55Hz to 21kHz where the standard 2031's have no crossover and a frequency response of only 50Hz to 21kHz. The P's are similar in spec to the A's, but require extrenal power.
  • Well I for one have to say... Behringer has my vote!
I do this for fun, I have a family to feed. I can't justify spending 300+ dollars on one of the big names 8 channel mixers. So I got this Mixer for 80 bucks and got 12 channels.
It does everything I want it to! And sounds clean too!

    Behringer Rocks IMHO!!!
  • EJ,

I stand corrected... I have the active B2031 and they are sitting just a few feet from my face

    I'm such a goof
  • Nce one KT. I use a Yamaha MG16/4 mixer, but I have heard good stuff about the Eurorack UBs...

And you just proved the point I have been trying to make. For the budget musician. Behringer gives the most bangs for the bucks. And it is indeed reverse enigineering (just had to squeeze that one in - lol)...

    Cheers,

    Thomas
  • LOL........Yea reverse engineering that got their asses sued by Mackie LOL. However I think after the lawsuit Behringer's quality did go down hill a bit, cheaper components etc., but still good stuff!!
  • Has anyone tried the truth's in conjuntion with the new Sub woofer?Just wondering if the truth's require that extra bottom end?
  • I use a behringer b300 powered monitors for my GNX3 and a B-1 condencer mic for recording. I am very happy with the quality and price.
