  • I have never enjoyed a note of Yngwie's playing....it's just \"not for me\" (but I do like some over the top shredders, Satch, Vai...so its not a \"style\" thing)
I can't stand Neil Shoen of Journey, the songs or the guitar playing....
And I've never cared for Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac, his playing actually annoys me, and Vinnie Moore is a great player...I can not for the life of me listen to him though

Strangely enough, the only time I liked Schon, is when he played with Santana on Abraxis.

You should check out Dreaming with Joe Lynn Turner. Some of his best playing is on that song.

Lindsey's playing on Fleetwood Mac was spectacular. I watched a show about the making of Rumours and they played the tracks without vocals, and he was playing some of the best guitar work ever. He has a unique sense of composure.
  • The show about the making of 'Rumours' was a BBC/HBO production in their series 'Classic Albums' If you get the chance watch the one on 'Aja' by Steely Dan...and the one on the Band's self-titled album is also great,

That's a very good series. They show it on VH1 classic. I liked the one about Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and Hysteria was pretty good too. The one on Dark Side was sort of a rehash, tho it's always neat to see those guys on TV.
  • I may be wrong about it being an HBO collaboration, but it was definitely started by the BBC. They did one on Apostrophe and Overnite Sensation by Zappa which I can't find. Anyone help? my email is musicformoney@gmail.com
    Ian
  • Another one who never got beyond his start is Robert Cray. really fine blues git'rist, and his debut effort was excellent. Saw him live back then, he ripped.
But then he started putting out the same album over n over, and actually regressed as a git'rist. Sad. :?
  • Cray's problem was/is he didn't have a lot of \"fire\"....he needed \"more garlic\", some showmanship, a little enthusiasm....he could have garnered more of an audience then
  • if i understand this propperly :?

how about guitarists that get amazing recognition, grace guitar magazines, are worshipped by millions, and have made millions.....................that are (IMHO) not worth the strings they pluck(ed)...........i vote................Jack White and Kurt Cobain

    (end gnu-b rant :P )
  • ...or Kirk, I fell into it because Dave Mustaine had a drinking problem, Hammett?
