I had a Digitech RP50 back a few years ago. For the money, I thought it was a great little effects pedal. I have since moved on to the GNX4, but I still have nothing but good comments about the RP series. I'm glad to hear that your RP150 is working out well for you. Make some music!
I have a new RP150 and it shipped with firmware version 1.4. I downed the latest RPupdater1.8. Does anyone know if there is any advantage to updating the RP150 firmware to 1.8? ... or should I leave it at 1.4?
Right, the hardware is an RP150 and the updater is 1.8. Did you run it?
FWIW, I flashed my 150 with the 1.8 RP updater and it appeared to update but after a factory reset the 150 still reported firmware rev. 1.4 on initialize.
I think it would be nice if X-Edit navigation was coded so that left and right arrows would move you from one parameter to the next instead of having to use Tab and Shift Tab or the mouse.
A level meter would be a welcome addition as well so that it would be easier to gauge the relative level of each preset.
Has anyone had a chance to use the wah wahs in the RP series? I have a 150 without a pedal and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to spring for a volume pedal. I was hoping to use my DOD FX17 wah/volume but for some odd reason, that doesn't seem to work. Do the wahs sound good?
Speaking of RP pedals, the RP6 is the reason I went ahead and bought a GNX3000 without trying it out first (blasphemy, I know). I loved this pedal, and once I figured out how a parametric equalizer worked, I really loved this pedal.
The local music shop has an RP7 with a 12ax7 preamp tube for sale, I should check that out before it's gone.
Just got an RP 350 on Christmas from the folks as my first guitar modeling-processor and/or pedal. So far I'm very happy, seeing as I don't have any original pedals to compare the imitations to.

Well, as I said I earlier, I have a 350 which has the DigiTech FullRange wah, Clyde McCoy wah, and Dunlop Crybaby, but I also have no originals to compare them to. In my short-ranged opinion, they sound good.
Hey, thanks for the feedback Cheezer. I finally got a good deal on a Dunlop GCB80 but the pot was wrong. The wahs in the RP150 and my Fender Cyber Deluxe would reach 100% at mid pedal and then move from 100% back to zero from midpoint to toe down. I'm still in the market. I could kick myself! I just missed (forgot) a great deal an a DOD VCC1 on ebay.
Has anyone tried out the new RP 1000? I think I am going to buy it! Finally a pedal board with an Amp loop!!! and a FX loop!!!
SO I had to wait 3 long years for that.......
I know the GSP1101 already had it....but no pedal boards had it before...
There's an idea  I should become a pro reviewer! I'd buy a whole bunch of stuff and review it. Then people would start sending me stuff for free to review. 8)

Be careful what you ask for. My boss is the technology reviewer for a major magazine. Companies send him stuff all the time to review, and his house is so cluttered with this crap it's ridiculous. He has a drawer with something like 80 cell phones in it. He's the worst gadget-junkie I've ever known.
Now, if you're talking about musical gear...well, who wouldn't want to get a new amp or git'r or stompbox or recording setup every week? 8)
This is possibly stupid advise but I would buy ANYTHING from Digitech, all their stuff rocks! They are typically built like a tank and sound great! I have a Genesis 1 that has been plugged in and turned on since day one!!! or about 8 years now!!!!!
I just ordered a RP 500 from musicians friend online. I've been using a Digitech RP 12 for years now, but the buttons are worn out. It still has awesome sound though, but I need effect buttons that work. I'm hoping this new RP 500 has longer lasting buttons. I like the simple power supply vs. a 4 pin that falls out all the time. I chose this pedalboard on faith, I've never played though it before, but owned Digitech for years. I even had a RP 150 at one time, various stomp boxes. I like that the expression pedal has a wah type on/off button where you can click it forward, bypass, dunno how good the tuner is any thoughts? I like that I can bypass amp/cabinet modeling, since I primarily use my amps distortion, it's a peavey ultra 120 tube half stack. The eq doesn't look as detailed as the RP 12, but I think it will be smoother. My machine hasn't even arrived yet, but I've downloaded the pdf manual and read it twice, seems pretty easy to program it. I like to get technical with my effects perameters, they look to be pretty adjustable. I think I'm gonna be happy with it. My band is opening for the 'bullet boys' in a couple of weeks, I'm gonna program it and play it live and come back and give my review on it ....
I think Digitech would do well to reintroduce the DOD line as vintage reproductions... perhaps with a few updates. The paint jobs and names were completely over the top and they sounded sweet too.
Damn lol. My RP500 came in today. I can't believe I'm sayin this, but the amp modeling is fantastic. I play a peavey half stack and use tube distortion, and I plan to use the cab/amp bypass and use my amp tone, but I'm debating that now lol. I put it on 5150 II and it's just like it. The number of effects I have is awesome, they are pretty adjustable. The only thing I don't like: to adjust the EQ's bass freq, and all three freq sweeps, you have to use the xedit software and plug it up to the computer. I wish you could acess that from the interface. I wish the distortion button would control the amp modeling on/off....which I may be able to prgram it to dunno yet. I'm surprised how good those models sound. The wah is about expected, decent but not totally smooth like a stand alone pedal. I'd recommend this thing to anyone though. Especially if you have a crappy amp and want some tone to play around with. I think I'm gonna give it a 10 though, cause it's 10 times better than my RP 12 lol.
^^^^ Man you hit the nail right on the head. When I read that it had Lexicon reverbs, I said \"I have to get this!\". These reverbs alone are well worth the price of admission IMHO. And as you say, the models and FX are excellent too.
I've never understood why all the Digitech factory presets seem to suck so badly! I have a Genesis 1... no presets, had a GNX3000 and now use the RP150.
The new FAT BOY RP series look very tempting! Don't even let me near one of those or I'll have to have it too!
Digitech been using Lexicon reverbs for a while - they're the same company, and I'm sure transfer pricing on a reverb algorithm is favorable to getting it elsewhere or reinventing the wheel in-house.

Ah yes, I do now remember seeing a conglomerate to include a number of the higher profile players in the Harmon Group IIRC. I wish that a line of communication could begin between NI and Harmon (Lexicon) to have the reverbs licensed by NI for their Guitar Rig products.
Just bought the RP 1000 and will retire the GNX4....I still have to play one tone into it though..
One thing I am already missing is a Midi in and out.....now I can't communicate with my other effect processor that works with my secondary amp...
my setup is..gsignal goes into splitter....one going into GNX4 other goes into a DSP256..wich I connected together with a MIDI cable so it switches presets when I change presets on the GNX4
Now with the new RP I can't do that anymore...also I tried to find a way to use one amp in the loop......and for the second amp just coming out of the effect chain....but I guess I will hear the preamp from my primary amp in my secondary amp......
So I think I need to either use a splitter again and handswitch presets or just use one amp.....which I really don't want to do....
I just purchased the RP1000 myself and I'm very happy with it. They finally posted the Xedit software last week and I prefer tweaking on the computer rather than on the unit itself. The sounds are great. However there are some good things and bad things about it. First of all, it is not a GNX4. It has no inputs. No mic inputs. No SC>HB. No A/B channel switching.
What it does have is true amp modeling bypass. An FX pedal loop. A larger assortment of amp models and FX pedals. It is built very sturdy. I like the switches better than on the GNX4.
I plan on using the RP1000 for live use and the GNX4 for home recording.

Well the RP1000 was never meant to replace the GNX4! The RP1000 has fed the guitarplayers the desire to have true amp tone with the effects of the board....plus amp modeling.....
The GNX4 was more then just a guitar effect board it was a recording studio with everything onit....even drums!
I have had a look at the RP series, in fact I own an RP90 but the rock distortion sounds just don't sound any good. Very muddy and just bad. I have spent time working on getting a good sound but nothign to touch the GNX. Would looking at a better RP, like an RP500 or an RP250 give a better rock sound? Does anyeon know?
I like using the RP350, but I think my old GNX3000 was better. I've always been a huge Digitech fan for a lot of years but It's just my opinion that the modeling still sounds really digital. That digital fizz just haunts a lot of stuff in the RP Series.
I'll say this though, I just record direct into my daw without an amp. I know an amp would make a big difference.
I was going to get rid of my RP, but ran across the free download of GTR Solo from waves(Free for a year). I used my RP and turned off the cabinet modeling and just used the cabinet modeling from GTR and low and behold! I couldn't believe how the RP came to life. No more digital fizziness, crystal clean pure analog tone on cleans and Crunches! I highly recommend trying this to cure the processor plague of digital fizz. You can't go wrong for free.
All the tone and harmonics and punchiness came right back to life. Whatever waves is doing, their doing it right.
I have Guitar rig 3 and love the cleans but the distortions are, well, computer sounding distortions. I tried the same trick with my RP into GR but all the fizziness was still there. Very digital sounding.
My verdict, GTR 3 makes GR sound like a toy, and will make the RP's sound completly KILLER for direct recording. Try it! I wouldn't steer anybody wrong.

Note to self: find a good deal on RP6 and RP7.

Anyone an idea?
The manual says that the RP 1000 is supported with X-edit....and when I connect it to computer it says...product 6 is not supported!
On the website there is no support for the RP1000 either.....
I unistalled the X-edit software and re-installed it....and nothing...
So I guess I have to transfer all 40 presets I have manually....it sucks...it could have been sooooo easy....
Anyway yesterday I connected the RP 1000 for the first time through the amp loop and man am I a happy camper!!
Very nice!!

I have a GNX4 myself, and wondered if the RP1000 sounds as good as or better than the GNX4?
Can presets/patches be created for the RP1000? Will we ever see MFX supermodels on there?
