My belief is God is soveriegn and in control always has been always will! Even wicked rulers that mocked & scoffed at God has been used by him to still bring about his overall plan. there is always a reason for evrything though we see it not there is still a reason. God new the end from the begining & though it may look like He has lost control & the enemy is winning, things get darker, more hatetred to true believer the narrow minded if you will he is still in control & nothing or no one can stop his ultimate plan from comming to pass. For those who know him this darkness & dire strait times should not suprise us or cripple us with fear cause we know him who is in control & just reminds that the time is at hand 8) I don't know if it is this administartion, the next? who knows? Only God does realy. But I'm optomistic, that things will get better. I will see my kids grow up, raise there own familes etc.. & hey if that doesn't happen well hey I'm ready for the oother as well 8)
Keep looking up my friend
You're right Manitou we are in for tougher times ahead (Matthew 24:21). But it won't always be that way. Human governments and other forces have made a mess of things and are soon going to be replaced (Jeremiah 10:23; 1 John 5:19; Dan. 2:44)
Economic worries will then be a thing of the past. (Isaiah 65:21-23; Micah 4:4)
Learning the truth about such things can be a real source of encouragement (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4)
:? )economy and population made despondent.
How can a simple Truck driver understand this, and not a Harvard grad in the Oval office?
Do not be decieved! \" They \" know exactly what they are doing! And are able to do what they want, due to an over whelming populas that doesn't understand the difference between a republic and socialism an or facism!
I understand your fustration! As I haven't had a job nor been able to create one in three yrs!
This is all I say on this topic, as I do not wish to use this forum for polilitics as it can become to volital... I will say this though, it erks me to no end .. that. When people speak up they say they will not discuss the issues with them because of their tone!???? Their cramming a socialistic facist regeem down our throats... and say we can't be angry about it :?:
I have been treading water the best I can, trying to delay the... I hope not... inevitable.... but it appears unavoidable.. my 1961 strat is probably gonna have to go on the market.. the thing that bums me out the most is, that it is an hierloom and that means more to me than just being a piece of vintage equipment!
Interesting thread alright. A tough one, 'cuz it evokes a lot of intense sentiment and reaction. It's hard not to be angry when the people WE CHOSE to lead us are basically bending us over while we sit in the middle and suck on it.
I know that there's people on this forum from all over, including some areas that are particularly hard hit, like 'tou. And I know that a lot of you are struggling to make it, while bearing up to the responsibilities of providing for a family.
It's easy for me to sit here and scream bloody murder, 'cuz I'm getting spanked as bad as the rest of you. I'm selling stuff I hate to part with, and living on a shoestring while my beloved instruments and studio gear sit in storage.
And yet I can't help but be thankful that the bulk of my expenses consist of daily phone calls to Shania, rather than having to support a family or save for college or things like that. (Yes, I'm a single guy. Can you believe it?!? )
Meanwhile, I'm unemployed, living in someone else's house (and due to be homeless as of 9/1 ), and can't seem to assemble a working game plan. Besides which, my poor dog doesn't know what to make of all this.
In some way, I envy you guys of great faith, who are comforted in the knowledge that our current problems are simply the machinations of stupid and power-hungry idiots, and that they really don't affect the grand plan. I don't have such great faith, and while I try to take some comfort in knowing that the pendulum always swings, it's hard not to be angry and feel hopeless and become anxious and worry about what I'm going to do TONIGHT, where I'll sleep, feeding my dog (and me!), and things like that.
Needless to say, I'm pretty eager for things to return to some kind of normal, even if it's not the fallacy we lived before...

You might be right. But I think the USA is not one of the countries whose biggest problem is religious fanatism.

Nah that would be extremely too simple to see. The problems we have in America our vast & realy hard to pinpoint I mean it is realy so much more beyond economic woes, & religeous fanatisim as you say. You can see problems isues in almost any direction you choose to look. As I have already said I'm am gratefull my hope rest beyond all this 8) If not I would not even have a clue as to how I would be doing in this current state of society, as well as looking out into a future that quite frankly does not get brighter. The youth our are future, future leaders etc.. Quite frankly that COULD scare me if this was all I had:. BUT i look forward to a city whose builder & maker is God 8) Without that call it what you want BUT I know it would be bleak from my standpoint! If not yours? Hey live drink & be merry for tomorrow we die eh? :P
Intersting thread guys - I'm gonna put my two cents worth in so sorry if that offends anyone.
Don't despair tou - things will get better. But its going to take a huge shift in attitudes in society in general to get this done. There are major problems happening in society all over the world - not just the US. What saddens me the most when I hear your (and others) words is that you are prepared to do the hard yards yourself to makes your life better, but you are not getting the opportunity to do this in the first place! But there are a stack of people out there who expect to have this done all for them without lifting a finger themselves.
I now work in the education sector and I can see big problems with our youth in society. They are generally selfish, materialistic, disrespectful and lazy. Their core values are so messed up by these characteristics that it is nearly impossible to educate them and even then you need to have such low expectations on what they can achieve. I regularly have kids tell me they should be paid for coming to school!! Can you believe that! When there is such a low value on education by kids which is usually backed by their parents - there has to be a major flaw with societal values! We have the situation here in oz where there is a ton of opportunity and work available but kids especially couldn't be bothered getting off their backsides to take advantage of it. They would prefer it to be done for them.
Why is this happening? Because society allows this to happen. Through the use of media, advertising, materialism etc society has destroyed much of the core values of honesty and decency. So instead, we have soaring crime rates, economic misery because people expect to have so many possessions, and generally a 'dog eat dog' mentality among people who are just in it for themselves. Truly sad stuff.
And yes, govts are much to blame for this as they allow it in the first place. I'm furious with our oz governments because of the policies they are pushing through education. Politicians (the minority) use education to instill their personal agendas onto the masses (the majority) by brainwashing todays youth so that it becomes 'normal thinking' once these kids have grown up. Here's a good example: When I was at school, we were taught about racial equality and that everyone should be treated the same - a lot of this was done to change societies attitude on Indigenous Australians and it was a good thing. Today, we have to teach the kids that Indig Aust's ARE different, they need to be taught in a different manner because they can't cope with western methods (everyone knows they can!) and we need to be implementing indigenous perspectives in all lessons. BUT, nothing can be taught, especially to them, about any other indigenous perspectives from around the world. Doesn't seem fair does it. But that's what is happening in the classroom, and honestly kids from other cultures are hugely resentful of it. How is this going to fix prejudice in society?? And when most people agree this shouldn't be happening in the first place, how can this be deemed democratic??
Economically things can turn around reasonably quick, but the societal change is much harder to achieve and many of these bad social attitudes is what's driving economics. I did the hard yards as a kid on a farm, worked hard at school then put myself through university twice and I'm proud of what I've achieved, what my parents sacraficed for me and the work I put in towards my own family. I expect nothing to be given to me and I'm prepared to do without when I can't afford something. I respect all cultures and I work with some terriffic reps from these cultures - even when many of these cultures don't respect me! I KNOW there are lots of people like me who are prepared to do the right thing and work hard etc, but I feel we have NO voice in politics and the people we vote in are completely useless. We are the ones who have to get the changes happening.
So keep ya chins up boys and don't become the stereotypes we are forced to live with!! I really hope things pick up for all of you real soon! :P
Oh how good to see both politics and religion in the same thread...
Bowing out of this one, and going back to pondering the meaning of the Sharp 11th...
Cherry farm? So all that talk about those ghastly hairy northern mich women are lies!! ???? keeping them all for yourself ..eh! No wonder you didn't mind going to a satch show! You have a cherry farm to go home to! :P
It is good to have friends in high places... A friend of mine, her husband was running with Mcnamara's kid in Germany.. They took a tank and went bar hopping.. came out of one bar and the tank was gone! LOL Never did find it.. Gov' sent him a bill for it.. lmao.. he never did have to pay for it!
thx for treating my question with respect, I appreciate that.
as for fingerpointing and guiltthrowing for any malaise:
here, as almost everywhere, the media and supposedly the people think,
that the youth in general has gone south.
more violence, those hiddeous games and movies, and foremost the MUSIC!
well, we the \"elders\" commit manyfold worse things in an active, or worst,
absolute passive way. what that things are? just imagine something.
most likely its happening right now. somewhere.
in short, imo we too often critize things, that we ourselfs are embedded in.

similar to the \"popular\" tone of the counterpoints,
as they’re sometimes sounding unreal themselfs.

because it happens in many places. ripples...
as for caucasians, i’m one myself,

and I have nothing against christians,
I’m surrounded by them all the time
it is great that there are so many different \"clubs\":

but if some of them are excluding others in beeing part of something,
lets say the air force, and are in a position to fullfill their prophecy by force,

that sounded slightly like stereotyping. but that must be my bad hearing.

I’ll shut up if asked for, because I don’t to start a bad atmosphere.
if the phrases sound unreal,

Exactly... But they aren't ... they are real .... That is what makes them 'unreal' .
If I remember correctly .. I believe it was Kruschnev, that said they ( Russia .. ie.. communism/socialism) would take over the US, without firing a shot!
It is happening NOW! If this current administration isn't stopped..
I don't know exactly how your country functions... But...You wouldn't be angry, if you were about to lose freedom as you know it! :?:
Religion has nothing to do with it.. As much as it is about losing a way of life!!!
I know what I said... sometimes I can't help myself!
the little tear off phone number. Honest... never seen it this bad ever before.
I feel yo payne, brutha.
Where I am, unemployment isn't as bad as where you are, but the feeling is the same - people are just jonesing for work, trying to keep things together. I know guys who used to get $35/hr for basic handyman work, who're now taking whatever work they can get for $12-14/hr. And those are the ones who can GET work.
It's not hard to imagine why everyone's so cheesed off about all this. Sure, there's always been poor, disenfranchised people in the USA, but now most of us are like that. It's turned us from the most prosperous and desirable country in the world to a struggling cesspool of humanity that can't feed their kids, pay for health care, or drive a coupla states over to visit the folks. It's sad and pathetic that our country is in the shape it's in.
Sure, any country is subject to tough times; if everything was (seemed) perfect all the time, it'd be the 80's and Reagan would be blowing happy smoke up everyone's dress. But the way things are now is downright scary, especially when I think it might be like this for a while.
Beatmaster, as a fellow musician, I know you are a kind soul.
I believe you have some good points of view to offer, which are appreciated.
I have been known to provoke and minimalize to make someone appear preposterous, and place them on the defense.
I'm not going to play that game, just so you know.
8) same here.
just as a thought:
switzerland is obviously an almost pure capitalistic system. banks and stuff, remember?
so why do we have public healthcare? are we schizophrenic?
no, we do it as a social act, because we can afford it.
and because of that we have an better healthindex.
and in response to that, we have to pay less social services to cover the uninsured ones.
and it doesn’t must be always a profit in a financial sense,
the wealth of the people does surpass that manyfold.
unemployment is a more complex matter,
but is, imo, mostly related to big corporations.
they’re not evil, but the system of gain without longterm view
does make them a burden on the smaller business.
and more severe, on national employment.
switzerland is obviously an almost pure capitalistic system
Isn't that like, being a'lil' bit pregnant? We are 'suppose to be 100% capitalistic. When Government controls ie tells any business how to run.... or runs a business, Sorry, I have to say that isn't capitalism.... I ain't trying to argue.. just stating my POV.
I don't know? And not to be mean, but don't care... All I know is that it isn't 'our' way. Just cuz someone/or other country does something one way doesn't mean everyone has to do it that way! I know when some billionair sheik needs serious medical care, they come here..
Does everyone learn/play guitar in the same way/style? Music would be pretty humdrum imo if it were that way! Just cuz alot of people butterfly around having unprotected sexx, risking herpes, aids and a host other bad nasty STD's... Do we all have too?
I'm not defending 'our' way or putting anyones other down... Just stating and wondering why it is so important to the rest of the world that we do it their way!?????
I know when some billionair sheik needs serious medical care, they come here..
Perhaps true, but not factual across the board. Many well-off Americans go to Europe (notably, Germany) for things like surgery, etc.
True dat! But it usually some off the wall experimental procedure, not aproved here, and or some herbal homeapathic last ditch effort to find a cure! They have the money, more power to them! While they still have the freedom to do so!
True dat! But it usually some off the wall experimental procedure, not aproved here, and or some herbal homeapathic last ditch effort to find a cure! They have the money, more power to them! While they still have the freedom to do so!
Iliace's right. Americans go in droves to a whole array of other countries for various ordinary procedures, often 'cuz the care is just as good and the costs are half (or less) as much 'cuz they aren't driven by the ludicrous and dysfunctional American Health Care Machine.
That said, I've seen plastic surgery done in other countries that makes the person look like they suffered a disfiguring industrial accident. There IS an upside to regulation, oversight, and legal culpability...
