Shredd goes through the \"life change\"
Well, the news is huge. The basic story is that I'm leaving my current job and my boss's mean wife, and moving to Colorado. 8)
I have a new job there and am hoping for a big step up in quality of life - if for no other reason than not having to endure her contemptuous attitude toward me. :?
So, I'll be out of touch for a while, or at least in and out. I know how much you'll all miss me.
The good news is that since I'm moving, I've convinced the songbird that she MUST come sing on my recordings before I tear my studio down for the move. It might actually happen. 8)

So...I've arrived in CO and moved into my new house.
I'm very happy to have this new job; it's twice the money for half the hassle, along with lots of other perq's: my boss AND his wife are terrific; the new town - while still teeny - is way more friendly, social, welcoming than my last home; AND - I get to have a dog!!! 8) Can't wait.
Anyway...I've got a million stories to tell - many of which are not GNX/music related, so I'll hold my tongue for now, lest iliace et al lash my @$$.
What I relay - which is HUGE news for me - is that I FINally got the songbird to do some trax for me.
It was quite ludicrous...after playing with her for over a year and having 6 or 7 songs recorded and complete (minus her vox) for about 6 months, I knew I'd be moving soon and started really nagging her. Of course, it was always \"sure, let's do it, I'd love to!!!\"...until two hours before, when she says I've got a softball game, my cousin's in town, yada.
SO. I've got my studio torn down and packed up, so no \"real\" recording...and, after nagging her daily for the last week I was there, she FINally says OK, for an hour on the LAST night I'm in town.
Then, two hours before, she bags out. :? I'm ready to forget the whole thing and find a girl that can sing that won't make my hair gray (with a laugh at you married guyz, not counting ODB...). Then she calls an hour before and says can you zip over for an hour or so.
So I jumped right on it, I'd kept my little Fostex digi unpacked for just such a possibility...
I got her to do 6 out of the 7 trax (one was a little messed up and we didn't have time to sort it out). We did the whole thing in about 40 minutes, no headphones, the backing trax playing out into the room, a mic stand in the middle of the living room. It was as barn-job as you can get.
BUT!!! I've got her vox recorded, and once I get settled into my new job and put my studio back together, I can put the trax from the Fostex onto my Tascam for FX, mixing, etc...and I might actually have some songs! I really hope I can put them together, 'cuz while my playing is good enough, she sings like an angel and I'm completely jazzed to finally have nailed her down. What a pain...I guess with genius comes eccentricity, right?
Soooo...in addition to the songs I did with her (which need mixing, post-prod'n FX for the vox, yada) which i hope to have up soon, I still have a neato one I did when I was still in my old job, angry and frustrated and un-lei'd. Not surprisingly, I named it \"All I Can Take\", and it's fast, furious, and intense. Stay tuned!
Great news! and good to hear.
I don't feel threatened by the dog...unless you start to post less.
Sure,,,here's what they look like nowadays...

This time, I'm handling a Hollywood type...quite the big shot. And SUCH a nice guy, and his wife is terrific too. Nothing like my recent employers, who created a lot of stress for me. I dunno about youse guyz, but having my boss's wife hate my guts was stressful.
My new gig is great - twice the money for half the hassle, and doing it in a place that's even more spectacular - if that's even possible - than my last location.
And they said I could get a dog!!!
And you wouldn't beLEEV who my new neighbors are.
TomKat?
I wish I could mind my own business regarding your love life...BUT I CAN'T!...I WANT YOU TO SCORE!...BIGTIME!....(and not just a string of one nighters like me....or Ilia...I want you to land THE KEEPER! )
Yeah, I really had to do the dog n' pony show to get this chick to record, but it's not like I had to lick her boots. She just places a low priority on doing anything for anyone but herself, and puts a very HIGH priority on herself, period.
I just jumped the hoops 'cuz I really wanted her vox; I hope you'll agree (once I've mixed 'em and posted) that it was worth the effort. She's got Ann Wilson pipes.
Now, would I put up with this BS if I were sleeping with her? Probably not. No woman is worth that kind of heartache...I learned that working for my last employer (the one with the nasty wife), and I was being paid for that. A lot.. Also dated a coupla women that convinced me that if the interest isn't mutual, you might as well be herding cats. You'd probably have better results. :?
As far as my new employer and my new neighbors...keep guessin'. You're getting warmer.
AS IF I'd work for TomKat. He's a nutbag and she's a droid. Not that I wouldn't...but it'd take a lot more money than he'd pay me.
You didn't say the neighbors were the employer! That's all I got anyways, why I know they live outthere I don't know! Probably didn't get up fast enough during a ten min. commercial break and got sublimally injected with useless information!
Is pretty out there if the big $$$ ' A ' $$$ is where your at now! I only been there twice I don't think winning the lottery would be enough to afford them realstate prices.
Now work them connections and land a movie to score!
Glad things are lookin up for ya!
But my new employers are terrific, the location is beyond compare, and the money is huge.
Now If I can just get him to introduce me to Anne H (he knows her, has worked with her, and has her home phone #!!!  )
Dude ... you never know!... 8)
