If you're interested, I have an extensive songlist of tunes I play with the songbird, not to mention a decent number I have recorded and mixed, waiting for her to come over and record vox.... I'd probably wait less time if I was hoping for a Beatles reunion. :?
I'd be interested in any female vocal or Male/Female duet songs as long as they are not country tunes. We just don't get any positive response to the country tunes around the bars we play. The patrons don't come out to hear country tunes around these parts. Or, at least at the places we play. Take care.

PM'd.
Not big country fans up there, eh? Surprised. It's good drinkin' music . That's all anyone wants to hear around here...

Good choice. I learned it for a girl who wanted to sit in with our band, but she was a little nervous singing in front of me so I'm not sure I want to put her in a position to freeze on stage.

Perhaps you could put her into a back-up vocal spot, let her get her feet wet and see how she does. Then stick her out front. Guess it all depends on how much potential you think she has?

We had band practice with the female vocalist who wants to sing with our band. She got nervous in practice and could not hit her notes because she tightened up. Anyway, she was not stage ready for her duet or solo. So we did have her up on stage the next gig singing backup for us on one song just to get the feel of the stage, sound, experience.... and she did OK as a backup singer. She had a good time without the pressure of having to carry the song on her own. Now she feels more comfortable about the whole thing and I hope we can get her up on stage for her duet/solo songs soon. Take care.
Stage nerves are a bite. I go to the songbirds' house and we jam and it's fun, it's chill, I can play. But if I were standing up on a stage w/her, it'd be tricky: she's a WAY better performer than I (as a singer, anyway) and she's been on stage a zillion times. I don't think I'd be so cool n collected until I'd done it a few times. Good thing she's the front man.
Blue Bossa...
Revisiting an old friend with that one..
May actually record it and do a vid this time..
Here's a couple of really cool versions..
1st is from my good buddy from the Netherlands..
Mr. Dick Onstenk...(AKA Jazzerman) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYgGOAlSvu4
Just got done learning \"Running Down a Dream\" by Tom Petty, \"Traveling Band\" by CCR, and \"Dancing in the Dark\" by Bruce Springsteen. We plan on trying them out on Friday night's gig this week. Hope they go over well. Easy to play, fun to listen to, hope they will encourage some dancing. Best wishes.

The CCR tune will bomb, but the other two are great songs and ripe for dancin'. 8) Good luck w/the sub drummer!!!
Thanks for the head's up on the CCR tune. We had hoped it would be a dancing tune, so we'll have to watch for the reaction and put it in the set accordingly. Take care.

Just my opinion. I think CCR sux and it's the kinda music that bands who are fulla guys who can't play do.
Though, they do have a coupla fun tunes, and might get butts outta the chairs. We'll be interested in hearing how it goes over!
...I think CCR sux and it's the kinda music that bands who are fulla guys who can't play do...
Ouch and Ouch. We play \"Who'll Stop the Rain\" by CCR and it is usually well received. One of my favorites is \"Green River\" but nobody else in the band knows the song. People here request CCR, and I like them. So I don't have any problem with their material. I guess you are not a fan? Take care.
Ouch is right about CCR. My old band played couple CCR songs, well I guess one of them is Tina Turner--Proud Mary and Bad Moon on Rise which some people requested as \"Bathroom on the Right\" At the risk of sounding like Simon on American Idol, you have to make it your own and update it. We played anything from Judas Priest to Asia, from BB King to the Beastie Boys(fight for your right-acually most requested song).
We put our own little touch and lead guitars to it and also got the audience involved with us.
Our drummer didn't like Chuck Berry songs until he heard Judas Priest version of Johny B. Goode. Speaking of Priest, they also did a re-make of Joan Baez's Diamonds and Rust--2 versions.
On the other hand, I understand, there is always going to be that band you just can't seem to like.
Sorry guys - didn't mean to be snobbish or judgemental - I just don't think much of them. That said, plenty of people DO like them, and of course there's a \"regional\" thing about it (no one I know out here like them...). FWIW, Green River and Proud Mary are songs that'll get people dancing, if for no other reason than melody recognition and a good beat.
I just think there's better songs that do the same thing. I don't have much fun playing CCR, and JF is the worst singer since Young Neil. IMO of course!!!
Not at all Shredd, no need to apologize. Like I said, theres always going to be that band that you can never seem to like. For me its Jethro Tull, Ian Anderson is a very talented musician, just not me. Although its strange, I seem to know alot of their songs word for word.
Didn't mean to come across as though I was coming down on you, its all in fun.
Now...quit appolgizing and write some more great stuff for us to hear.
ps Fur Elise is going to be a little harder than I thought. I'll keep at it, although I haven't spent more than 30 min on it yet. Maybe thats the problem. Take Care

There were some great anti-war songs back then. We do \"For What It's Worth\" which is a big hit with our older Vietnam era ex-hippies. Still a great song, but it does show it's age in terms of political relevance. Where are all the great anti-Iraq war songs? Do we have to have a draft to get anyones attention? Most of the Iraq war songs that I have heard are pro-war country type songs. Thinking Toby Keith. Yeah, I love to wag the flag and all, but I also served 10+ years in the Navy and just don't agree with our invasion of Iraq. Hasn't worked out well for us either. Don't want to get political on stage, but just miss the feeling of any great anti-war songs coming out of this engagement. This war seems largely ignored for either the pro or anti sides. Too bad, as a Gulf War vet myself (two tours in 1980's fighting WITH Saddam Hussein), I want people to realize the sacrifice of our soldiers and the expense of taking care of them when they return home. And yes, you can be anti-war and pro-vet at the same time. Most older vets I know are not in favor of this current engagement.
OK, off my soapbox. Just that \"Fortunate Son\" was a great political statement and a great song at the same time. Best wishes.
Shredd, great piano song, I would have lead at the end down on volumn just a tad so it doesn't burst into song--little softer aproach. Everyting seem to flow right along. I wish I knew how to incorporate all that stuff into my songs. Where'd ya get the piano track and how did ya get the drums to come just right--quantisize??
gtaus, just want to start off by saying THANKS!!. Its guys like you, that serve in the military, that allow people like me to live in a free country. I support the troops, just not the war. It definitely did not turn out the way Bush wanted it to, maybe for his underlying agenda--oil. On Vets day and Memorial day I call all my buddies and family that served in the military to wish them a happy holiday and to say thanks. So...Happy belated Memorial Day to ya. One of my buddies was in Navy Seals and to hear just a couple of stories is really gut wrenching. Anyway, didn't mean to go on, Now...everybody...Lets go make some music.
ps I did have my son--17years old--write lyrics for one of my songs, it is a little political-a verse anyway. Once I get the song sounding a little better, I'll put in vocals and post it. Its called \"The World Is A Battlefield\"
