Naturally, she's nuts, and a recovered alcoholic... . But she sings like an angel and can even write music. She n I are working on lyrics for \"Cost Of Silence\", which I recorded and posted w/o vocals, 'cuz the ones I wrote were so pitifully bad.
I actually had a spat with her over where F# is. She plays a G# and sez \"that's F#, right?\". I sez, \"no, F# is here (2nd fret). She actually argued it with me, was convinced I was wrong, and called me a \"music nerd\". Like I said...nuts.
sounds like you found a \"live\" one  Women like her will tare your butt to \"shredds\" in the sack :P
add a gun permit to carry and i married one just like her   Her birth sign is \"Libra\" :x they'll argue with a fencepost

Yup, you nailed it alright. That's her to a T, although she's a Virgo and I'd think twice about having a loaded gun around her.
But she's insanely attractive and I'd bet my last set of strings that she's a MONSTER on the rails. Will I ever find out? Be sure to watch the next episode of \"Shredd Needs A Woman So Badly He'll Even Date An Insane Ex-alcoholic\".
Hey Shredd, can you get a video cam, and maybe youTube the gig.....that would be sweet.
I'll look into it. Maybe I can get someone to snap a quick vid with my digicam, at least...
But I'll only post it if we sound great. I have my groupie herd to think of, ya know! 8)
And one of youse guyz will haveta post it. I don't join those sites (myspace, facebook, soundclick, yada...). DT is the extent of my internet presence.
Although I did do eHarmony once. The only woman I met was terrific, until she went insane at about 5 months... People always run up their colors sooner or later...
Hint; Aux out the audio ( if you can ) from the board to the cam. Built in mics blow.
You'll get a feel for which song's are gonna go over good in rehersal, so pick 2-3 songs and get your cam guy on the button.
I'm sure someone here could post it for ya on the tube. 8)

Yes, they do! My digicam has no audio in, but if I can get my hands on a video cam, it might, if it's a decent one...I'll work on it.
After I get after these chix to rehearse... tho they tell me otherwise, they appear to think a gig is a show-up-and-play sort of thing. I can't even get them to commit to a set list.
And you wonder why no one here below $1 million net worth has a g/f? Chix here won't even commit to a set list, let alone a guy. :?
Haha dont do that. The mix from the mixer is optimised for the room and also balances your mic'd amp etc etc (unless you amp isnt mic but still). It will sound pretty bad if you use the aux in. From my experience anyway. Plus, you wont get the crowd noises!!
Hmmm, (from my experince anyways) I always thought that the signal from an Aux \"out\" is pretty close to what is coming out the mains. I may be wrong, in that case I'd better mark this date on the calendar. :P
Women, can't live withém..........pass the beer nuts.
Yes the aux out is whats coming out of the mains, however you dont get the interaction of that sound with the walls, floor etc which dramatically affects the sound. 8)
It's now late April, the wedding gig is barely 7 weeks away, and there's been some startling developments.
My ex, the bass player, has met a new guy, fallen madly in love, and is moving to an even smaller  town a coupla/few hours away. What this means is that she's going to be too busy for practice, not going to be around to rehearse with me n the songbird, and might not even do the gig. And it's her friends' wedding. :?
This means we might not even be able to do the gig, or else it'll just be me n the songbird, or we'll have to pick up another bass player (yuh, right... ), or I'll have to play bass.
The saga enters another surrealistic dimension. I don't know what's worse - the drama, or trying to learn Hoyt Axton songs.
The good news is that with my ex out of it, the songbird is more receptive to creating some sort of plan of action to our efforts; we've made up a songlist and are well on our way to knowing it well, just a few songs to \"polish up\" and a few others to learn...
Hey, Shredd. I thought all the wedding drama was reserved for the bride. Sounds like you have her beat hands down. Hope it all works out for you. Take care.
Hey, Shredd. I thought all the wedding drama was reserved for the bride. Sounds like you have her beat hands down. Hope it all works out for you. Take care.
Yeah, me too. :?
But even if we don't play it, at least I've got a chance to create some sort of productive association with the songbird. She's a lot more serious about playing without my ex's influence.
And she is tremendously talented...the other nite I was at her house and she played me a CD of stuff she wrote when she was about 17 and recorded while she lived in Nashville...and it's incredible. She'd put Carrie Underwood under the bar.
PS: to celebrate my 3000th post, I'll revert to my favorite subject: hott women.
I think I figured out why Elizabeth Hurley isn't returning my phone calls: look at the freakin' doorknob - I mean ring - on her finger!!! http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/weekinphotos?photoidx=13
Sigh...
Well, it's official. The wedding gig is officially off. My ex, who has fallen madly in love and is running off with her fella, has decided that since she won't be in town when the wedding happens, let alone here for practices, that we had to call it off. :?
I'm going to miss her dog - who I adore - more than her. Does that make me a bad person?
Annnnyway...I'm still playing once or twice a week with the songbird...we played last week with her upstairs neighbor, who plays bass, and much better than my ex. He's one of those guys who learns really fast, and can just jump right in to anything. He seems game enough. We'll see what comes outta that.
The songbird also had another boy-toy along...this one is REALLLLY young. Like 20. She's turning into a cougar.
The upside is that he's a veteran of a real live rock band who actually got signed and made a CD, then broke up when some of his band mates started acting like that dipswitch lead git'rist 'taus has in his band. I haven't heard him play yet, but I gather he's pretty good. The only thing is, he's a hard core metal head, which I don't think the songbird is going to care for. Sounds like a stormy romance...
Still haven't gotten her to my house to record vox for all the songs I have in the can... :x
The thing that's bothering me about that is that her explanation is the same as every other woman in Jax has for not doing anything, including dates. \"Too Busy\".
Now, everyone has stuff to do...gettin' through life means doing stuff.
But women here have dating, men, etc, so far down their priority list that it's superseded by things like laundry and giving the dog a bath. It's one thing to be strung along or refused a date 'cuz she's busy organizing a blood drive or something; it's pretty disillusioning to have her put you off 'cuz she has to organize her bookshelves.
Translation...\"Too Busy\"...=...\"not interested\"
Just let it go...become too busy yourself
Yeah...\"the language of love\"??? Like \"Not tonight, I've got a headache\" = \"keep your hands off me dirtbag\" :P
It's not like I don't have anything to do besides pine for women...although my postings here certainly make it seem so. I have a real job, sports I'm interested in, and, of course, music. But a date once in a while would be nice, not to mention a little romantic frolicking (can I say that here? ) now n then...
Actually, in Jax, \"too busy\" is really a fact of life...there's so much to do here, and it's a lot to handle for most people. And if you get interested in doing something, chances are something else has to give.
And, frankly, I think women here tend to be a little too interested in themselves and their interests, and won't date or get involved unless it doesn't require much effort or inconvenience on their part. :?
Maybe I should import some easy NJ women. I could make a fortune.
Well, sad as my dating life is, it might be funny if the Garfeild comic strip had EVER been even slightly funny. EVER. Even cat lovers think it's stupid.
And wasn't this \"joke\" going on in another thread? I'm gonna tell the moderator on you!
But, (I can't beleive I'm saying this...) back to the topic at hand. Now that the ex and her feeble bass playing skills are gone, I'm back to solo open mic efforts. The songbird is fun to play with, and listen to, (and look at... ), but it's a pretty open-ended, whenever she gets around to it kinda thing. She loves to play and sing, and is talented enough that she's always being asked (she sang at a funeral yesterday! ), but when it comes to any kind of continuity or making any kind of effort to have an ongoing group - ya know, like people who have songs they all know and can play together - she's \"too busy\".
Sooo...it looks like it's gonna be me n my GNX at open mic, with no one to sing.
If the song bird don't commit to a somewhat serious project. Guess the good news is you met that bass player! :P Perhaps something can come out of that? Any musical chemistry there?

The songbird doesn't commit to anything. It's a personality trait. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
But the bass player, old and nerdy as he is, is good. And he seems a decent guy. And I like his taste in music.
And the songbird's boy-toy, young (20  ) as he is, I think is a pretty stellar player. Too bad he's a metalhead. Kids...whatcha gonna do...
could be a whole lot worse  not that its enlightening but if you had hooked up with the songbird ,she would of trampled on your heart anyway.she seems to go through guys like my fat cousin Annie goes through an all you can eat buffet :x
Thanks for the kind words guyz. It's disappointing mainly 'cuz there's not a ton of gig action around here and there's tons of well-established acts taking up most of the work. Plus, it sounded like fun, and lonely single chix would've been icing on the cake.
That said...I'm not sulking about it; fact is, jamming with the chix got me out playing with other people (instead of with myself  ) and learning some new material, so it's all good. If nothing else, I've got some stuff the local drunks at open mic can wag their heads to.
As far as the songbird goes...well...I'm just not going to depend on her for anything, really. She's really hard to pin down in terms of practice, or even a single session.
And she DEFinitely isn't relationship material, at this point in her life. Even I'm smart enough to get that. Not that I wouldn't play checkers with her...
Shredd, sorry to hear about the wedding gig. I just read this--yah, I'm screwing around at work again, shhhh--but, if you can get your songbird to sing for you, have her sing Get Here(If You Can)by Oleta Adams. Great song for wedding or any occasion, especially if she can sing.
