I just thought that we should start a new thread since there is now an official release of X-Edit 2.3. Everyone can post any issues hey have and the solutions which may help others.
Comments: Full Windows Vista support and enhanced librarian functionality
Release Notes:
Various updates and tweaks for Windows Vista
Added drag/drop and copy/cut/paste to librarian (drag/drop requires firmware updates for RPx400, Vx400, GNX3000 and GNX4)
Added edit menu
Fixed minor issues with control focus and window activation
I'll post the first issue. I had 1.3 on my computer and tried to uninstall it before I installed 2.3. I'm unable to uninstall 1.3 and it's preventing me from installing 2.3. I keep getting an error message saying system is not adequate to run X-Edit 1.3.
Today I used my GNX4 with Vista. I never thought it would happen.
The new XEdit is great, and worked as smoothly as could be.
The USB Audio in Sonar is awesome, in fact I think the performance is better than under XP. One thing I'll mention... the Mono/Stereo out settings for your GNX will directly affect your USB Audio. I was listening to a stereo track, and it sounded mono...then I realized the GNX out was set to Mono. So I changed my GNX out to Stereo, and the USB went to Stereo. Not a big deal, just don't let that confuse you.
I can do my music thing in Vista now... Yesssssssssss!
Wingnut... not sure what the root issue is, but there are utilities out there that will help you uninstall stubborn programs. I had zero problems with XEdit 2.3 so I would think if you can get the old XEdit out of the way you'll be good to go.

If you're computer savvy, you might want to try removing all traces of XEdit and Digitech from the machine (HD, registry, etc.). Then do a reinstall.
May they'll make a \"cleaner\" for just such occurrences.
Thanks Iliace, but that's where I looked. I see the X-Edit 2.3 download, but there is no firmware update listed for GNX3000. The release notes say a firmware update is required for the new librarian drag & drop functionality ...
You can use XEdit 2.3 without the firmware updates (at least on the GNX4) but apparently you don't get all the fancy drag and drop functionality as if you had the firmware updates. At least that's my take...
Hi.
This means that we have to wait the release of firmware?
As Scotthef said above, you can use it now but you won't have full functionality. It's enough to finally get the Vista users up and running, so it's good they got it out as soon as they could.
Digitech told me they don't yet know when the firmware updates will be released, so for the additional advanced goodies like drag & drop we will have to wait.
I'd get it now though, as there may be some bug fixes and other features as per the release notes.
help, when i launch x edit my computer turns all blue with with some
white letter mumbo-jumbo,crashes and restarts. the only the computer
sees the gnx4 is with the cf stor on.
is there a certain proceedure to installing this new software.ive been
messing with this thing for 2 days and cant get it to work right.ive about had it with this gnx4.
Last night updated xEdit2 on my PC. Before I uninstaled Xedit1.3, I made a \"mantention\" running Ccleaner, Manually I deleted the \"Digitech\" directory on C:\\program files\\digitech and then I instaled the drives from CD (only drivers) and finally I instaled xEdit2, and..... Run Perfect!!
About \"drop and drug\", nothing. Its sad and frustrating.
X-Edit 2.3 works great for me with GNX 3000 on Win XP without the needing of the firmware update. Is this update needed for running on Vista?
This confusion about the firmware is partly my fault.
Hopefully this will clear it up:
X-Edit 2.3 should work without any firmware updates, on both Vista and XP.
However, for full librarian functionality (specifically \"drag & drop\", maybe more), there will eventually be a firmware update. The firmware update is only required for the advanced librarian features.
I got 2.3 to work. I can use patches from the patch library, but only if I download them to my PC. If I try to just open them to sample, Xedit closes and says \"needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience\".
Digitech told me they don't yet know when the firmware updates will be released, so for the additional advanced goodies like drag & drop we will have to wait.
I can wait...Very happy to see something moving forward on the cumbersome librarian function. Now, how 'bout a revamp of the factory presets on the new firmware release.....
Perhaps the firmware can allow us GNX3000 useers to over-write the factory locations. I need more storage room!
Heh heh....No doubt we're getting spoiled on a \"function control\" level, guilty as charged......Wide open patch placement would be sweet, 160 slots on the GNX4 memory..... Wait a sec...I only use about 25 patches from all of the available public offerings and 6 I programmed myself. A few of those factory patches ain't too shabby either......
Digitech, thanks for working forward with the librarian issue....anxiously awaiting the firmware upgrade. We'll all be happy to have better control over the file structures of our beloved modelers / workstations....thanks again...
Is it accurate that you can only open one patch at a time now in X-Edit 2.3? I couldn't figure out how to open more than one, which I could do in the last version. (Only one will be active, of course.) This seems to be a bit of a step backward, unless I'm missing something.
That being said, the old version would crash on me fairly regularly. This one seems more stable; had it open for two hours last night, moving patches around and making edits and it didn't crash once. Nice!
The new EDIT functionality is a real improvement too.
My only other gripe is that I would have liked to see some new keyboard shortcuts.
Overall, well done by Digitech. Looking forward to the firmware update.

That don't sound right, but I haven't installed 2.3 yet...waiting for these kinds of posts to vanish......I'll wait for the full monty, then I'll blow my load.
Hope you get some feedback on that issue slej.

I just went and checked and I think you could be right on that one.
Maybe I'm missing something too but I could only open one at a time also.

It's a little confusing once you login, but scroll down where you see this:
So, where are the firmware updates?

Hmm... release our own firmware. I didn't know that was an option. I would go for that. Think of the possibilies...

I´m still reluctant to install Vista because some software I use does not have an update and never will, sadly.
