2nd Draft(Still Rough) Metal Tune
Ok I'm looking for more suggestions on mixing. Sunday I finally got some time to do a HASTY re-recording of the rhythm tracks on this. I did a few things different. I tried to tweak the patches up from a little to get better definition between the tracks, then used alot more panning. Then I discovered the track analyser and tried to eq the tracks a little to focus on specific frequencies to try to get more definition too. I used the compressor on the final mix. My ears suck so tell me if you even think it is better that the last one or not. --By the way has anyone tried a new cakewalk product called Boost 11? It looks like a great tool for this sort of track but I want to see if anyone has any experience with it first.

I've only listened to the track whilst at work on my head phones but I will give my $0.02.
None guitar stuff:
One thing that throws me off a little is the hats sound like they are panned centre. Also the snare is very faint. The kick sounds like slapped meat which I like.
Guitar stuff:
The solos kick ars. I'd love to be able to play like that!
The track sounds like a guitarist's mix: ie the guitars are well up front with the kick audible enough to keep time. The guitars have a very strong jin-jin sound so I am guessing the metal zone pedal is getting a work out, giving the track an early nineties feel. I would suggest taming the bottom end and consider rolling back the gain on the stomp box and let the amp have more of an influence on the tone. Perhaps check out the \"brutal metal\" patch or the \"Nemesis - arch enemy\" patch available on the community site.
I'll shut up now.
