My Bands Got a BIG gig!!!

We finished Band Practice tonight then went in the house to listen to some very good news.

We just got a gig at a local music festival. Theres a few other bands on and we have a 45min slot at 3:00. Its a pro festival with PA, Monitors e.t.c with pro soundmen who have worked with The Damned. We will be put through the PA and everything. The best thing is we will performing to 400-500 people  Theres even a proper raised stage with roof

I can't wait :D

P.s for those of you who know about Rapid Fire we worked on our own material tonight, it sounds good. Just needs a bit more practice before filming. :D 8)

I am sure you guys will blow them away

Just remember the board when you become
rich, famous and start touring with IRON MAIDEN
  • Hey Wickerman cool to hear that!!! I can tell you guys are excited!! Hey keep us posted as to how things go. I know you all will rock!!! You are great musicians!! I'll be looking for that original. It will be awsome I'm sure. Does this original use your Riff & solo you posted?? Anyhow I'm stoked for you guys!! Pray all goes well, and you guys get some more gigs!!

    God Bless Wickerman!!!

  • If anybodys ready to gig its you guys!...and so, a young mans journey begins...he takes the first step---feels the adrenilin coming from the crowd....and ROCKS THEM!!!....(wow, I used to listen to The Damned around the time of my 1st gig---1978!)
  • All Right Wickerman.I'm sure you guys are gonna leave a lasting impression on the crowd. You guys are gonna rock'em.Good luck and Knock'em Dead Kid
  • Wickerman - Way to go!! I am sure you guys will do great. Last night, my band played at local club here that gets a bunch of names acts through and it got me to thinking, where have I played that someone really awesome has played? Or, to put it another way, who has played on the same stage as me? So far, these are the best ones I've come up with:

    1) B.B. King
    2) Yngwie Malsteem
    3) Los Lonely Boys
    4) Skindred
    5) H.I.M.
  • Wow.....Thanks everyone for all the replys.

They know we have no bassist or singer, but after doing this we could meet up with some people wanting to be in our band.

Partch-Yeah it uses the riff, if i use the solo ill do it alot faster because i've had chance to practice it then we'll have a key change for my mate to solo.

Shredd-Ill look for any blond girls :wink:
  • Have someone take some good pictures for your next promo and references.
  • If i go straight into the Mixer via my GNX3, what should i set the volume for the patch at?
    does it matter?

Not really. Play as you normally do, for tone and continuity, and the PA guys will level you out at the board. Just don't make it too hard for them, they need to make you sound good!
  • As long as you guys get a little bit of a sound check for monitor levels on stage, you'll be good to go. The FOH,(front of house) guy will take care of the rest, and all you have to do is ROCK 8)
Is it an out door gig? If so, playing outside with play around with your ears. Don't get into the habit of turning your amp up,let the monitors do all the work for you.Just ask the sound guy for alittle more or less of this or that, till you find a level that your good with.
Really hope you guys have a good time.
\\m/  \\m/ RAPID FIRE ROCKS!
  • Thats great.

Really happy for you fellas 8)

yeah its an outdoor gig. I really don't know what to expect playing with a PA and Monitors.Does the whole band get put through the monitors or just that specific guys monitor.
E.G Lead Guitars monitor-Just lead guitar coming through or whole band?

Also we just got a proper camcorder with an external mic and 28x optical zoom so keep your eyes peeled for some live vids. :D
  • That freekin RAWKS! Get out there and kick butt :!:

Yea you'll have a much better chance finding other musicians too.

Me, exasperated and speechless can only reply, \"Shredd....Man...You need.. I don't know...Just so many... wow...\"

(Please note this all in fun....)

And good luck with the gig Wickerman....

It's really gonna depend on what they have for a monitor board. You should be able get what ever signal from anyware on the stage into your monitor. e.g. kick & snare drum and a little of your mates guitar, aswell as your axe in your monitor. Likewise for everyone else.Maybe the drummer wants a bit more of his kick and only a little of each of the guitars. But, like I said,it's gonna depend on what they have for a monitor board,and.......if they have a headline act that already has monitor levels set to where \"they\" want them.Plus I'm not that familar with your drummers Roland drum brain, does he have a volume control for each of his pads,or is it just one stereo level output for all his drums? Either way the sound guy is gonna take care of you. Don't be scared to go up to him and ask question on how it's gonna come together,They love it when young guys ask them to explain things.(if he has time and he's not a jerk)

As for the camcorder, the best seat in the house for that, is just behind the sound guys FOH rig.Good thing you've got 28x opt.zoom.Can't wait to see the vid.
    ROCK ON :!:
  • Hey thanks P.G you are very helpful. Will get the Cam set up where you said :D

I really do hope its not cold, can't play guitar when its cold.
  • Lights should keep the stage area pretty warm....
  • I doubt there will be a lighting rig at all let alone one big enough to keep us warm.

Oh well, im sure they will have heaters or something
  • Well you would'nt have an Iron Maiden light show  ,but you should have something.
  • Hey,

    just got this beast:

    Its JCM900 100W Dual Reverb 2X12 Combo

    jcm900-1.jpg

    Marshallmodel.jpg

Ill be using it at the Gig.

Im getting new valves for it.I need to get el34 valves. Is that the type of valve made by different companies?
  • EL34's are one of the tubes Marshall uses...its a number/name for the tube (valve) (Fenders use 6L6's)....several companys make them and the prices vary wildly....but try to buy them in \"Matched Pairs\"
  • Found some matched pair of Marshall valves:

    http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=12376

Ill prob get a pro to fit them cos i don't know hardly anything
  • Wickerman,
Hey man nice amp!! I bet that baby is going to crank for you!!

    God Bless!!
    Partch
