Hey all! How are you! The name is Dave, AKA Travelin man. New to the forum & looking forward to getting to know folks.

Just getting set up after a move from Missouri down to New Orleans La. area. Been busy getting to know some spots to Jam with other pickers down here, and looking to get one or two man show set up & going. I figure you only go around once so........here I am in Louisiana getting ready to jam.

I'm running a Digitech VL4, gonna hook it into a Crate CA125 & will be playing a Breedlove C/CRH, an older Martin DA-50, or maybe even my old Fender.

Just got the VL4 & reading the manuals (Yes, I've played with it some 8) ) but now it's time to get serious, read the manuals & figure out how to get the most out of my set up. As I'm still knd of new to this plugged in kind of deal, any advice is welcome.

Dave.

  • Welcome! It's pretty quiet around here most days, but there is still a few dedicated users posting semi-regularly.
  • Welcome to the show. We have lovely gifts backstage for you. :P

Anyway - betcha that VL4 is tasty! I have the VL3 and I love it. And it'll really spunk up your one-man thing...I use mine solo doing open mic's all the time. It rewls...have fun!!!

Hey - are the rumors true? That therz wimmins in New Orleans??
  • Hey all. Thanks for the welcome. I am enjoying the VL4 a lot. Still working out which presets to use with what songs etc. But so far I love the thing.

Still trying to find the best way to send my signal through it to the amp clean, then the Mic to a seperate chanell. Fair warnong, in case you have not noticed.......I can't spell to save my a$$. LOL. Looking forward to getting to know evryone.
  • I can't spell to save my a$$. LOL.
'Course not. In Louisiana, school is punishment for shoplifting, right???
Sorry. Just givin' ya the bizniz. :P

I dunno 'bout the VL4, but my VL3 has a clean direct through for the guitar, that you can put right to the amp, and a separate XLR-out for the vocals only that you can send out separately (or, there's also a control that allows you to mix both into one XLR out).

Another thing: one of the reasons that this forum is less frequented than it used to be is that tons of spammers register a fake name and post all kinds of garbage spam, advertising cheap sneakers and sportswear, or discount knock-off electronics, or other such crape.
Perhaps you would care to join me in scouring the countryside, hunting down these dregs, and stringing their lifeless, beaten bodies from roadside trees and structures???
  • Welcome TM, hope you enjoy your time here. It doesn't get the traffic it used to but the stalwarts are still around.
I have the VL3D and love it for solos and duos. Like Shredd, mine has a guitar trough and a seperate out for the vocal. It is a mean little machine.
  • Welcome to the forum, Travelin' Man. I don't have a VL3 or VL4, but I have been considering it. I imagine it's really a great tool for the one man shows. I'm still gigging in a band, singing backup, but I have suggested that our lead singer get something like the VL4. Well, we are too old school. We have three singers in the band and when we do 3 part harmony, it's three of us singing different parts. Again, welcome.
