Which recording software are you using with your GNX4? Protracks plus or ??
How well does it work?
Can you make cd's with it?
How is the quality?
Is it easier to record to from the gnx4 or more difficult?
Is the track editing better or worse then protracks plus?
Are the recorded vocals better or worse then Protracks plus?

For instance in Sonar Producer, you get a boatload of great quality plugins and really nice console support and newer VST's specific to channel strips and mastering (nothing is as good as sending your tracks to a mastering house imo). Most of what you see in those tools are utilities to boost levels yada yada, but those tend to not be so transparent on your final track mixes. USE THEM SPARINGLY.
IMO Cakewalk products are a home run in what they offer, the software engine, excellent VST support, Win OS support, Tech support, and minimal costs in upgrading versions.
Pro Tracks was a lite version of Sonar 2.0. It is very capable of producing great quality cd's if you want it to. The main things that have changed in all daw's are the improved workflow/workspaces/GUI, and the engines supporting higher sampling and bit rates. You have to remember that software changes as fast as the computer cpu's and ram that change all the time.
What is in the GNX4 as an interface, and Pro Tracks plus will allow you to create cd's no problem. The main thing Pro Tracks lacks for this is a VST wrapper which you can buy or find online.
More recently Daw's have changed to more librarian style GUI's and so will be the case with Cakewalk X1. Some seem to like it, other's not so interested in all the new workspace changes. Newer versions require newer hardware, so its nice to see they created something specific for new CPU's, but that leaves many with aging systems crying foul already... what are you going to do!!
