An RP355 for bass?

I recently bought an...

...for use with an MIJ Fender VI (30\" scale, 6 strings tuned E-e an octave below a guitar).

The RP' has GREATLY exceeded my expectations in every regard. :)

I chose the '355 because none of Digitech's current bass-specific BP series of multi-effects processors/amp & cab modelers...

...has XLR outputs.

Based upon my experience with the RP355 it wouldn't take much to modify it into a unit which is good for electric bass.

- add a model of a 1969 SVT amp and a 'straight-back' SVT 8x10 cab

- add a model of an Ampeg B15-N

(These would provide the beefier classic bass amp tones the RP355 lacks.)

- add a cross-over which also sums stereo frequencies below 100 Hz to a dedicated mono XLR/1/4\" combo output jack (this portion of the signal should be kept dry and fed to a single sub-woofer to preserve bottom & note definition in the face of overdriven tones and/or filter sweeps, and to avoid phasing issues caused by having two or more common bass sources separated by a distance which is less than the wave length of the lowest frequency they can reproduce) while keeping everything above 100 Hz in stereo (and selectively wet) via two XLR/1/4\" combo output jacks.

This output arrangement would allow electric bassists to run a stereo, tri-amped simulation of a 'clean amp/dirty amp' rig using modern, light-weight active PA cabs.

In contrast to the above description, encouraging electric bassists to run a stereo rig in the following manner...

...will put them into conflict with experienced FOH sound engineers.

\"...If you want to go stereo the best way is with a tri-amped rig, for left/center/right, with the left and right cabs high-passed, the center low passed at 100 Hz. This is the same arrangement used in PA and home theater, summing the information below 100 Hz. Since those low frequencies are non-directional having stereo sources below 100 Hz serves no useful purpose anyway.\"
