How to get instantaneous patch switching

Hi

Am I the only one who experiences a drop in sound when switching between patches? The change is not fast enough to not be noticeable. Is it something in my presets, which causes it, or how do it set it up?

Thanks

  • you're not the only one. The gnx series has one processor, so instantaneous patch changes cannot happen. One workaround is to use the GNX in patch mode. You can turn effects on and off instantly, but not patches.
  • Just to be clear: By patch mode do you mean stompbox mode? I can see it work if you just want to add a single effect like reverb to a tone, but it seems rather cumbersome to go from a tight distorted sound without any effects like reverb etc. to a nice clean sound with reverb, chorus, delay and maybe more. Is that even possible live? Wouldn't it require a lot of tapping with the foot?
  • He meant to say Stompbox Mode (yellow).

Yes, you can configure control assignments which are much more powerful than are patch changes.

Control assigns would allow you to configure 3 parameters, or toggle 3 various items in the gnx4 effects, amp channel, amp level, or amp gain.

In your case, you could have your normal amp channel on red for your distorted tighter sound. Then you can assign for example the MOD pedal or CONTROL B. Under the EXP settings, you set the control assign to change amp channel to green, enable modulation, and enable delay.

Control assigns are instant and work great for live applications.
  • cool, thanks alot, I need to play around with this ;-)
