Help with saving user patches

I just bought a RP1000 and I am trying to save my user patches and when I do I keep saving over the factory preset ones. I'm use the X-Edit on my Mac. Maybe I'm doing it right or not. On the unit, do I need to go and change a setting from factory to user preset.
