recording with the RP155

I finally figured how to record with the RP155, with no help from Digitech, mind you. Now this might not be the best or the right way, but I got it to work, and I'm done messing around with it.

I was finally able to use it with Audacity. I tried Kristal, but it kept locking up on me.

I tried countless settings just having the RP155 hooked up to the USB port, but to no avail. How I got it to work was with the addition of a small USB box that I had called a \"U-control UCA222\" made by Behringer. It's a USB audio interface with digital output, with 2 RCA input jacks & 2 output RCA jacks.

Then I have 2 RCA's from output of this box to the input of a home stereo unit.
I have a Y splitter (2 RCA to a female 1/4 jack) to the input of the Behringer box. Then I have the guitar plugged into the female jack.

Oh, and from the home stereo unit, I have a Y splitter, 2 RCA's to a 1/8th inch jack to the soundcard of the pc.

In Audacity, I have the recording setting set to Digitech rp155. And thats it. Barely any latency, sounds great.

If you know a better way, let me know.

  • I had my RP-155 working and recording in Kristal several months ago. and using the USB interface. But, I had to load ASIO4ALL.dll in order to make it work.

But, I have a problem now. I've not used the RP or Kristal in about five months and when I wanted to use it again I could not record. Kristal did not connect to the driver. When I strum, the track sound bar moves but the program doesn't record anything.

I downloaded another program and I get the same result. Man, its So frustrating trying to record with the pedal .. and that's what I bought it for in the first place.
  • Did you try Audacity? It seems pretty straightforward for me now. I know what u mean about frustration, I spent hours trying to get it to work.
  • Grrrrr ... My RP-155 is recording in a hit and miss fashion through Kristal Audio Engine. Same trouble as before. I tried Audacity but it will not play one track while recoding another .. and I don't have the bucks for a commercial DAW like Pro Tools, Cubase or Reason. It's so frustrating ...
  • I've tried Reaper and found that it tends to use the RP155 ASIO driver (Win)versus the ASIO4all that I have installed. Consequently, the sound quality is poor (it crackles) and I have to use the RP pedal for my headphones, rather than the headphone jack on the computer. This is bothersome because the volume on the pedal cannot be adjusted (it's loud) and I get a slight reverb when recording. I hope that techs at Digitech are looking at this post and can respond to our recording issues .....
  • Im trying yo use my RP 155 with Pro Tools, I have the device running through USB and into my monitors plays awesome. But I can't get sound out in Pro Tools. Do you have any advice?
