RP 150 noisy in presets

<div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>I just picked up a used RP 150 from a local music store. I love the reverb and a few other effects I'll be using it for. I already use other pedals for compression, od, phase, etc. When I use some of the presets, especially the ones with high gain distortion, I get a buzzing sound when I touch the strings or strum. It's very annoying. I really will only use it for reverb, chorus, maybe flange once in a while. I play older country, so I don't need any metal sounds, etc. Is this normal? Is it the master level? Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • I myself just picked up an RP155 - new - and am having the same experience. I really think that it's just a \"get what you pay for\" thing...this is a very capable MFX for a really low price, so it's not going to be blowing away any Eventide or TC stuff.
I also have gotten some very nice clean sounds out of mine, and the FX are fine...but anything involving high gain or overdrive are pretty noisy.
I guess the only thing to do is twiddle your presets so that you can get decent overdrive without having to put your pregain up too high...probably by adding in a small amount of o/d or distortion from a pedal emulation, but keeping everything fairly low...
Sorry I don't have anything better to offer. Gotta get back to Shania's backrub...
