I know several people here post music on soundclick.com, and I'm curious whether anyone has actually sold any tracks through that site. Any comments?
I'm on S/C (see my sig), and I've posted about 15-16 \"songs\" I've done. I only post originals there; I post covers here at DT.
I put them up for sale at $0.25...not that they're worth anything, but I figure it's sort of a token contribution for the effort...if someone likes a song enough to listen to it more than once, it's worth a quarter, right? Right??
Anyway...yeah, I've sold some, but it's not exactly financing my retirement. Like I said, it's just a token contribution...now, if I were an actual musician, like youse guyz are, I'd be willing to bet that you could generate some bux with it. It'd have to be incredible stuff to really make $ - remember, there's about 4 million people there posting their stuff - and you could probably make more dough selling CDs at gigs. But...as we all know, e-music/downloads are where the money's at, and you don't have to find a friend with mega-cleavage to sell the CDs for you. :P

I mean, it's not mega-great, but I'm proud of it. It's certainly marketable in terms of sound quality. We do plan to sell CDs at gigs, etc, but I'm also curious about selling online. Since we don't have any kind of exclusive distribution agreement, and we do have two radio interviews and some local rotation scheduled, it might be a good idea to have some kind of a virtual store front.
As it stands, since it's about a month and a half before official CD release, we're making them available for free to listen. I've posted a few tracks before, here is the rest (11 out of 15): http://www.reverbnation.com/makeloveandwar
Oh, and we're by no means short on mega-cleavage sales personnel

I TOTally agree. If you're getting that kind of publicity, the one thing you want to be SURE to do is make it easy for people to get your music, and downloading is by far the easiest - no trip to the store to buy a CD, no nights in skanky clubs going to a gig to get a CD (j/k - I'm sure you guys play on ly the finest establishments... ). Shoot...whether it's iTunes, SoundClick, or even your own site/a site set up to acces the tunes, online is the way to get people to buy your tunes...
It's by far the biggest city in the state, what do you think of course, given that Baltimore is the \"City That Reads\" (Hustler magazine), you have to look out for the ones who are, um.... \"for hire\" :?
I dig Maryland...
One of the prettiest drive's in the US, (IMHO), is the trip from Washington DC, to northern parts of West Virgina. You'll pass through western Maryland, which is just gorgeous. I've actually thought about retiring to Cumberland.. Simply beautiful..

Shoot, I wouldn't mind a woman that could read. And I can't afford to \"hire\" women...and since I can't play git'r or sing worth a dam, I have to rely on my incredible charm...

Thanks for listening! Most of these songs were pretty much finalized before I was in the band, and when I began playing with them, Dying to Live was definitely one of my favorites. Now that they're on recording and I've added my parts and played them for a while, I feel quite different about a lot of them. Certainly still like D2L, but other initially-unlikely candidates (like Jekyll and Hyde) have definitely grown on me.
That DC Beltway is the biggest parking lot on the East Coast. :P
I dated a girl from Ohio for a while. She's from a small village (not even town) on the border of OH/WV. I used to call her coming home from band practice (~10pm on Sundays) and tell her that I'm stuck in Beltway traffic. She wouldn't believe me - after all, her idea of traffic is a tractor/trailer in front of you.
Then, one week she came down, and I invited her to a band practice... as soon as we hit that 495 exit, she was speechless all the way to 270
I have a few tunes on Soundclick for sale, but no sales. I did read just recently that SC changed it up so that you can download songs without having to sign up for membership. That should make it a bit easier for the artists to make a few bucks. There are other sites similar to soundclick, and most are free to artists. I say put it out there in as many places as you can.
I have listened to your stuff Ilia, and it is marketable. The only way to know if it will sell is put it out there and see if you get a nibble.

Sorry if I got off topic there....
Oh, we have it lots of places... there's a track up on Band Camp, people can buy it through Reverb Nation, we used to have the old album up on iTunes (still waiting for them to process the new stuff), etc. The SoundClick app is also embedded on our facebook page now, since they let us do that now. Electronic sales seems to be the way to go, CDs are nice to sell at shows but other than that they don't have much reach, especially for local artists.
For me (more so than the rest of the group) this recent EP is really less a stepping stone and more an end of an era. The new things we've been writing recently have a somewhat different sound that I think it has more marketing potential. It's been getting some great response live, that's for sure. So we'll see what happens... give us 3-4 months.
And thanks for listening, always appreciated! I added you on SC - or at least I think I did, still figuring out how to do everything on that site.

Never tried to. Just give em' away for free. Hell, nobody buys jazz guitar recordings from the real Bad A$$'s...
I just use my account to track my progress on the instrument. And the forums, over there are deader than this place..

I still vote for mid town Manhattan.
