Make Love & War

For the past six months, I've been working with this band in the capacity of lead guitarist, recording an album. We're almost done! I finished one of my toughest tracks this weekend; we still need to do one vocal track and some miscellaneous rhythm guitars and acoustic guitars.

Check out some of the first tracks; these are now out of post-production. Let me know what you guys think.

  • Freakin' excellent. 8)

And Sonia looks almost as good as she sounds. She got a cute sister out west anywhere??
  • That's good stuff Iliace! I like the sound of you guys! The singer's sing well together. I do like Sonya better on vocals! She has a real good voice! The fellow is not bad either. Dig the Bass player he has good presence in the tunes. Your lead melody type guitar lines are cool as well! Dying to live is probably my favorite tune. As far as the vids is that before you were in ther group? I love there take on Papa don't preach & 99 red balloons 8) Seems like you all have a bright future :D
  • Hey Illiace .. Some nice tunes posted. Definitely has that modern vibe. 8)
Very nice upbeat not overly in your face.. I'd sit and slam a few while watching you guys with my ears..
Does it have a classification? I don't know what genre it would be..(LoL .. showing my ignorance of the real world here... I have to get out more!) Just modern indy? Guess it doesn't matter what it's called .. still good stuf ..
  • Was it long hours in the studio? How does that work?
Guitar work is really really good.
Nice relaxing night club music. I could sip a few and kick back and relax while listenin to you guys.
  • The \"studio\" is a 16-channel Allen-Heath board and an 8-channel 24-bit digital recorder. Yes, long hours - when I came in to play with this band, there was no lead guitar, so I pretty much had to make up the parts on the spot. So we would record some ideas, then mix and match them for hours until we get some kind of final part, and record it from beginning to end. At this point, I'm anxiously waiting for the album, because honestly I don't even remember a lot of the stuff I played.

Drums and bass took considerably shorter, since they already had parts and knew them, too.

The mixing/mastering are being done by http://www.npproductions.com/ so for right now they're working several iterations and give us back the tracks to provide comments. In a few weeks, we'll go to their studios and finalize some of the stuff that's difficult to explain over e-mail.

Thanks for the comments, everyone - I really appreciate it! Also, by means of information and since this is a Digitech forum, I will have to admit that no Digitech gear was used in this production. All of the electric guitars were recorded using a Line 6 POD X3L. I do use GNX3000 for live performances.
  • I tried. Unfortunately, my browser can't be updated so I can't get anything to load. Using 98SE. I can't even listen to SoundClick anymore since they updated browsers and players.
  • Here's an update.

The album is finished and available for sale. Right now, you can hear it in its entirety here, albeit not in the correct track order:

There are also videos up there from our CD release party, which now include myself, as well as the new female singer and bass player.

    Some of our recent developments:
    * CD release party was hosted by a local radio station, 98 Rock (WIYY Baltimore)
    * We've been invited back for their Best of Baltimore night on August 30th
    * One of the songs, Alone, is occasionally in the daily rotation on the radio
    * The same song is also available to download for Rock Band (some kind of console video game, similar to Guitar Hero)
    * There are some big gigs in the works for the Fall, in venue capacities ranging from 500-20,000 people (some of these would be opening for national acts)

Pretty exciting stuff. It's the farthest I've ever come in the \"music industry\".
  • Sounded real good Iliace!

Best of luck to you guys. Hope you hit the big leagues!
