RP355 drivers downloaded and installed, Cubase working,no go

This is maddeing. I have everything installed on my PC and plugged in. I am running Vista home premium 64 bit version. The pedal has power. The USB from the RP355 to the computer, the guitar plugged into the RP355. All the latest updates from the Digitech web site. Everying is ready to go... and nothing. I have Cubase LE 4 open and still I hear no guitar. What am I not doing here? What's missing? HELP!

  • A computer recording setup that isn't working. I can hardly believe it.

You have a setting, probably in Cubase, that is mis-set, so you aren't monitoring your git'r input.
Don't rule out demonic possession, either. :P
  • I'll re-check the Cubase settings and get back to you. It may be demons. I have been listening to a lot of Black Sabbath these days!
  • I fumbled around with some of Cubase's settings, but I really have no idea what I'm trying to accomplish here. Still no sound. All the drivers are installed and updated, so that's not it. Can you be more specific? What settings or preferences or whatever am I supposed to be changing? Apparently my computer can \"see\" the RP355, but Cubase says it's idle. The tech support over at Steinberger is poor, BTW. I have to wait for someone to activate my account to use their forums. UGH. Anyway, suggestions? Thanks.
  • Honestly, I'm not the guy to give specific suggestions, since I'd rather decapitate myself with a wound G string than record on a computer.
But lots of guys here do, and do well with it.
The thing I'm suggesting is something along the lines of selecting/deselecting what is being monitored...whatever section of Cubase your RP is running into isn't being passed on to the output part of Cubase; or else the Cubase isn't \"listening\" to the RP, so there's no input to monitor.

You're gonna haveta wait for one of these smartish guyz to chime in; I'm not much of a tech wiz. I'm just here to meet chix. 8)
  • Started to make a thread asking about this exact same problem, and then I found this one. I'm having the same issues. Anyone ever have any suggestions for the OP?
  • If I am not mistaken you need to set your Rp355 up as the sound card within your daw. I use a USB sound card so I just plug the outputs of the GNX3 into the ins of the sound card and record that way. But if your plugging your Rp with USB then you will have to set it as your sound card in your DAW in order to get any sound from it to the computer Hope that helps.
  • Hey guys... I'm having the same problem too. Vista 64 home premium, RP355, USB connection... only real difference is I'm using Cool Edit Pro(2.1) as my recording software. Just another person hoping there is some kind of a fix... it will allow me to jam/record late at night, when I seem to get most inspired. Thanks!

By the way... I tried the most simple test you could think of, which is Window's built in sound recorder, while trying to adjust all the setting on the actual RP355... but nothing is getting through there. However, it will send audio to the RP355/amp just fine via USB.

johnmasterpiece, or gypsyblues73, were you guys able to get sound through your amps via USB?
  • Instead of Cool edit, I'd go with the Cubase LE.

When selecting your audio, you have to set the RP as the audio source in the track inspector.

IDK what the others found or didn't find to solve their issue. That's what's a bummer sometimes. They don't come back and say if the solutions posted remedy their problems.
