Nashville tuning

Anyone ever string a guitar for a Nashville tuning?

So if... the 1st string is a 10, and the 2nd a 13 and the third a 17.

What gage would you use for the 4, 5, an 6th ..24,32, 42?

Or thinner?

  • What you do is buy a 12-string set, and just use the smaller of the strings on your 6 string guitar. Voila there ya go.
Happy Thanksgiving by the way! :)

Send those bridge cables that are left over to Tal.
....only he likes them flat...so flatten them out with a hammer first. :P
  • If you go to www.sweetwater.com go to videos and research on the top bar and navigate to the glossary section. They detail the string gauge
sizes and they also sell one set of Nashville tuning strings(D'Addario) for $5.00/pack.Shipping and handling is free. This is where I order my strings.

At www.daddario.com they not only tell you the string gauges but their tension also. You can also purchase single packs of strings if you would rather use different gauges.
That way you wouldn't have to waste strings.

    Later.

I always wanted a banjo. I see them 6-string banjos on the Price is Right . . . they're tuned just like a guitar. That would be awesome.
  • What's happening to us? :P

I got me fiddle and it does Cripple Creek so far. 8)
...and parts of Transylvanian Lullaby. (Young Frankenstein Theme)
I can't do the vibrato yet. That's harder than it looks.

Wouldn't that just make it a guitar with nashville tuning? :P

Hey gib it's a five stringer! I say go for it! some pretty decent beginer models out there for a couple bills if you want new.. E-bay pawn shops etc probably find 'em real cheap, just to try out an see how you like it.

Were musicians (I think) have to keep exploring new territory ( I'll stay with that! )

Besides it's only natural.. blue grass is the original shred and it's home grown.. though todays shredders will never admit it! :P

Cripple Creek! Perhaps I might be able to get that down by spring for your first Ho Down in your barn LoL

Yet the question still remains... What's happening to us? I still want to get a dulcimer!  Guess the good thing is a blue grass out fit don't need no drummer!
  • ...a dulcimer! ......ah..yeah..yeah..um you should see yer Doctor. block-head.gif
There's gotta be a sauve or something to help you with that itch. shrug.gif
...I could see Shredd getting a dulcimer. He'll do anything to impress Shania. loudlaugh.gif
