You're the kind of girl...
A tune I wrote and recorded a couple of days ago...sort of a style I like that I've been trying to get for a while now...blues/alt/garage kinda sound. Mix is probably a bit muddy- a problem for me lately, not sure why (age?).
Called \"You're the kind of girl who hides those things\"

Gave your post a couple of listens. It might mix better with the vocal down the middle, or just slightly off cenetr (left or right). The vocal part to me could also come down some. To me it is to up front and dose not give that smokey vibe the rest of the tune has. Right now it sounds like a 30 to 40% left pan. I would be temped as well to lower the drums about 1 or 2db and play with the mix some more. At the end of the day, it's still your baby though. Keep at it.
Yeah, I tried a different delay on the vocal and it skewed it to the left. Volume wise on the vocals I think you're right but I have a problem judging my own vocals and sometimes it's hit and miss. The drums are a bit high, too, and when soloed they hit pretty much near the rms level of the whole song.
Thanks again
Not much I can add.. A few times I noticed the drums just barely start to clip.. But hey man get this one cleaned up .. I think you got a winner here... 8)
I listened to quite a few of your Soundclick songs.
You're the Kind of Girl Who Hides Those Things
Haywire Gulch
She Wants to Be
Out of Hand
I think that the best mix (In mono - since I'm on a 44bps line modem} was She wants to be. Most of the others weren't as well defined {In sucky mono} as Out Of Hand.
Your the kind of girl.. (on my computer) everything sounded \"far away\". I didn't exactly understand the lyrics. I'm sorry that I can't give a better review, but Everything sounds like crap in soundclick mono. What I heard of your guitar sounded pretty good. The bass & Guitars sounded balanced, but squashed by Soundclick mono. And I'm listening through DT 770 Pro $300.00 headphones! (Manufacturer Alice in Wonderland suggested list price)
SoundClick MONO SUCKS and nothing sounds as it should. I know from personal experience that my songs sound like crap in mono since I use stereo extremes. Guitars FAR right & Left type mixing.
Slacker, thanks for taking the time to listen to my tunes. My tunes for sure are made for hi-fi- I need all the help I can. I sometimes check the mono but since I have such a hard time getting things to sound ok in stereo, mono takes a backseat. I really have a hard time getting my mixes to translate well across a variety of systems- car, stereo, ipod- I try them all and they sound ok on some mediums, but sucky, lifeless, distant, muddy...ect on others.
Thanks again
