Need 'Easy' Hard Rock/Metal Song Suggestions
Hey guys, I'm trying to move my band into the direction of some harder Rock 'n' Roll or stretch it as far as to some metal songs. Not death metal or scream and shout metal, but something harder than the classic rock and roll we currently play. The songs should be relatively easy for us to add to our list - which means simple repeating patterns with great beats. I'm thinking something along the line of Judas Priest, \"Another Thing Coming\" which seems like a relatively easy song for a group of guys to put together without years of practice. The songs should be instantly recognizable to the crowd and maybe a past favorite, since we are essentially a cover band. We just don't have any metal and very few hard rock songs in our current lineup.
We don't have months to work on any one song, so 'easy' means something that most of us can pick up and play fairly well in a couple of practices. It just can't be too technically hard because as individuals, we're not technically great. We are average players out having fun on the weekends gigging at local venues. Looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks, guys.

not all metal, but these are some of the songs my band plays and they go over well with the 30something crowd (I know this because this is my age and the music I grew up with)
PS. all are \"easy\" to play
Yeah, those songs are/have already been on my list. I'll have to check out the others. You know, there is no shortage of good songs, it's just a matter of trying to find ones the band likes to play and the audience likes to hear.
All you guys are expanding my interests in songs I really don't know that well, which is good, because sometimes I think we only play what we already know and feel comfortable with playing. I'd like to be able to crack out of the routine and fire off some really hot songs. Especially ones I did not grow up with and maybe the younger 30's crowd will enjoy. Thanks.
Thanks for the head's up. I do have a 5-string Yamaha Bass, probably my most expensive guitar on the shelf. So, if I really need a 5-string, I could cover that without any problem. Also, I don't mind if I have to go into Drop D tuning for a song. With the GNX4, it's not a big deal to retune before/after a song. If the song is in some other kind of tuning, I'll probably pass as my bandmates are only playing one guitar, in standard tuning, and we really don't want to carry additional guitars to our gigs.
We are not purists to the original in the sense that we often have to transpose our songs to a different key for our singer. So a standard tuning, half step down, really doesn't mean anything to us. But you are right, any tuning change during a set would slow down the flow. Thanks.
