Blast(s) from the past...Leviathan circa 1992
Recently discovered some old VHS tapes of my old band back in the early 90's. Absolute VIDEO GOLD since I thought these tapes had been lost forever.
The \"Detroit Rock City\" clip was filmed by a professional production company. It was going to be aired during our \"Dallas Music Video\" appearance a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately the format they shot it in wasn't compatible with the gear we had to convert it at the time, so it laid dormant until I found the tape last night. I watched the footage for the first time last night at 9 PM. I was extremely pleased with it.
Other clips include our 1992 appearance at the annual SxSW Music Invitational in Austin, Texas and the DMV guest appearance.
The SxSW footage was recorded on a consumer grade hand held VHS camcorder, so the quality isn't all that great. It was on the same VHS tape as the DMV appearance which, unfortunately, suffered the wrath of time. I cleaned it up as much as I could, but there are still some analog artifacts that pop up every now and then. At least I have them digitally preserved now though.
As a side note, I've recently relocated 3 of my old band mates. Two I found on FaceBook, and they still live locally. We're hooking up for burgers/beers this coming Saturday, and we're even talking about putting together a new project. The other lives up in Winston Salem, NC and is still actively involved in the local must scene up there.
Still trying to find our old singer Mike Smith (aka Mike Wingfield).
