I'm just lookin for some Tush!

Hi guys,

I know I should be getting stuck into my own material but I've had a really crappy week at work so sat down tonight and cranked it up!! (well in my cheap headphones that is!) and stuck some guitars over another backing track, ZZtop's Tush.

I'm chuffed with the rhythm but not happy with the solo's as I have a bit of a handicap in that I can't play slide!
DOH! Just did my speciality.....cold noodling!

At least it helped me over my bad week.

    sounds great as always nifty. Tush is one of the most covered songs I know, been played by countless cover bands over the years. In your defense on the solo, there are not many players out there who can play slide like Billy Gibbons, so don't beat yourself up too much. The solo sounded good to me.

    Isn't it great that after a pissy week you can just grab your axe and get all your frustrations out, it's way better than beating the dog or something even less productive :lol: . Keep it up man, I look forward to your next post.

    Cool beans Rodger! Man your post count is way down :D Suppose that all resets as well? Oh well we know who you are 8) Got any stuff up & comming? I realy need to put sometime in working on new stuff! Maybe after vacation I will get to working on a new song?

    What does \"chuffed\" mean? Is it the opposite of \"not happy\"?

    Sounded great to me. The rhythm guitar was dead on the money. I have heard the song so many times that I do miss the slide solo, but your version without the slide would land you a lead guitar position in any band around here. I am not a lead guitarist, but I have messed around with a slide just a bit. It doesn't seem any harder than playing straight lead. But then, I don't play lead either.... With your talent, I bet you would pick it up really fast. Great job.

    Really sorry gtaus..yes I suppose \"chuffed\" means pleased or happy.
    Sorry, must be an English thing!! :)

    When I was in a covers band we used to practice 2 maybe 3 times a week and as it was only a 4 piece (Drums,Bass,Guitar,Vocals) I played ryth/lead.
    I always practiced hard at grooving with the bass and drums but when it came to the lead I used to just say..\"ahh...it'll be fine on the night!\"

    As a result I suppose my style became reliant on improvisation!

    And Rawb......now this is what I'm worried about...maybe I only have an ear for a cover! :roll:

    I've been fiddling with one of my tunes for a few days now and it's still sounds rubbish to me.....but maybe that's because it's one of mine and not a classic by somebody else!

    I am going to post some original material...honest! :)
    But I just hope I get it sounding it's best before letting the rest of the world hear it....I'm probably worried about rejection!!

    OMG...Freud could have field day here! :lol:

    We all tend to be our own biggest critics when it comes to making music. Don't let that stop you from putting your stuff out there for public consumption. We don't bite here at the forum, at least most of us don't :roll: . I for one would love to hear some of your original material. I just can't see with your abilities that it would be as bad as you are letting on. Just throw it out there and see if it sticks. We all wait with baited breath.
