Mighty quiet here... too quiet... (sound of faucet drip)

Hmmmmmmmmm...yep eh. This'll do. snif-smack (distant buzzzzz of katydids)

Okay, so most of you guys have a life. :?
What have you been doing?
I've been mainly swimming, cycling and doing a little fishing for perch.
I'm doing mostly gubbermunt bid contracts at work for a machine shop, while still rehabilatating from a couple surgeries.
Not playing guitar as much as I should or would prefer...but it's summer.
Fall is my favorite time of year for Deer Hunting, then I start to think more about guitar.
It's been 50-60's here...but that's kinda typical. Should begin to warm up now though.
(we don't believe in global warming up here)

I'm unemployed, having been badly skrood by my last employer. The net is cast for new gigs, but these days, even my line of work is affected. In addition, I'm nearly totally disabled by Post Concussion Syndrome symptoms, from a nasty fall on ice in Jan. I'm living in someone else's house, my instruments and studio gear are all in storage, and the money is going fast. I filed for unemp't/disability, but I haven't seen a nickel of it and they're making it reaaallllll hard for me to get anywhere with that. Dam beurocracy.
Meanwhile, my feet stink and Shania won't return my phone calls.
For music related stuff, we have a few gigs out on the lake and a few shows for fair type events but most of the summer we spend creating new playlists and sets for fall/winter gigging since there is usually a lot weekends we can free up a couple hrs. Some of the guys are on Vac and what not.
I spent a day or so transplanting trees and landscaping crap which I hate doing! Plus we have like 7-8 grad parties to attend.
We just don't have enough Czars yet.
I took a 25 hr/week job sitting at a computer doing contract estimates. No benefits, and plenty of headaches for what it's worth, but it keeps me holding my head high. To make up for it, I am selling everything that isn't nailed down. Sold my Carvin amp, and several guitars, all I thought I'd never let go, among other prize possessions. But one does what they must.
This is a summer I won't forget either Bro. I am more focused on what is important.
You are not alone my friend. Millions of Americans are standing up with clenched fists, and not as stupid as the politicians believe. We will turn things around, but it might have to get rough. It's time for us all to be stronger.
Meanwhile, one has to live their life. Go walking, camp under the stars with Hagen, or a little fishing maybe Bro. Lots of things to do, that doesn't cost much, and I can tell your heart needs something to refresh your soul.
Don't let yourself get too down.
For us who make a living out of music this is the best news we could have, not big earnings but at least you know that your week is safe.
We have been playing Fridays and Saturdays in a bar for 5 + years outside town and now a new bar opened near the neighborhood and we arranged a six months contract there for Wednesdays and Thursdays with a long term option that could keep us busy for a long while.
Not bad for these days huh?
I'm also banging my head against the wall because my \"tech-speak to marketing-speak\" translator keeps breaking down and making the process of understanding what the client wants and communicating what they're getting *very* difficult.

Congrats to you and your band. Sounds like you guys will be very busy this summer.
And Shredd: I have this experience, sometimes things go down, and down...
but suddenly something or someone comes to the rescue and everything begins to flow again.
Just keep the faith and keep your will focused, God is always around to lend a hand.
Take care pal!!!
Fortunate man, yes I am.
I see these times ripping up families, folks I know and care about..tears in my eyes for them...and I keep hoping things will change soon.
I try to play some every day, my chops are fairly tight now and my strumming is crisp...hope to keep it that way till they chuck me in the clay..
Bringing the hodgelings along musically, day by day...We all must 'pay it forward' in some fashion.
Nice and quiet, no phones, no internet. Been rebuilding the fence in the back yard. Mixing down two sets of midi tracks in hopes I'll be able to go do some open mics and see how they fare. Went out jammin on the 4th with a couple of old friends at an out door party. Lots of country and swing. But did get to play some blues with duel pedal steels. Lot of fun.
Am playing at my nieces wedding in August with my brother inlaws band.
Have reconnected with an old drummer I used to play with, Maybe we can get something goin. Just enough work for the summer to stay off unemployment. And no matter how long summer is, it's always to short.
Time to go clean the roof and gutters.
