Device received corrupt data - damn!

I bought a USB -> MIDI cable so I should be able to run GenEdit on my laptop (WinXP).

GenEdit loads, recognizes the device, and I'm even able to change settings, save, etc. But if I try to load a patch from a file, it gives \"Device received corrupt data\" message :( I can't load any patch!!!!

Does anyone was able to solve this?

  • What midi USB cable did you purchase? It has been hit or miss and mostly miss with the ebay type budget cables.

If you bought the Maudio UNO, Edirol brands, go to their website and download the latest drivers for your version of Win XP.
  • It is a generic usb -> midi cable made in China. Before buying, I checked several comments from previous buyers and all of them said good things about the cable (but all of them were using it with keyboards, not with digitech stuff) :(

    Cable looks like this: http://www.vetac.com/product_show.asp?id=88
  • Keyboards and synth pads communicate with the DAW, not a specified application like Genedit.

Many forums report constant errors of these synth usages when their specified plugin is not communicating.. ie Proteus, Dimension Pro, Kontact etc. Most are due to these same generic cable issues with non specified driver support.
