Hello Again! :o)

Hello folks,

I would love your thoughts on my latest attempt at a cover of Since You've Been Gone by Rainbow.

I found yet another backing track as I seriously can't sing!! (even after buying an expensive microphone!!.....thinking that would make a difference!!)

I have added all guitar's to this Vocal, Bass and Drums track.

Any thoughts?
Peace all and later,
Greg

p.s Thank you Mr. Blackmore...I loved having a go at this!! :o)

  • pretty nifty man! No seriously good job 8)
  • Great job. Where did you get the backing track from? Do you have some secret website? I'm always looking for good backing tracks, especially with vocals like you found. Makes practice more fun.
  • WTG! Very good mate!

Uh... Ritchie! .. Is that you?

Ya where did you get that BT?
  • Thanks Guys,

I know what you mean about decent backing tracks.
    They are hard to find.

I found this one (and quite a few more on a site I found on Google)

I used to use www.guitarbt.com but I think he is having trouble from Mr. Vai and his lawyers at the moment
Hope he's going to stay around for a bit!

So I found this track on www.guitarbackingtrack.com

I just hope this site doesnt go down with legal pressures!
    Gulp!

    I spose it's a case of \"get 'em while you can!\"

There are a lot of midi backing tracks on both sites but if you trawl the site you will come across some great tracks :D

    Later folks

    :D
  • It's a real challenge these days to find a good backing track website that has not been shut down. I added that site to my list and am checking it out now. Thanks.
  • Very cool...nice mix as well. Very tastefully done...when do we get to hear some more?

    Thanks tucopeat,

I have been really trying to improve my mixing.
I haven't been mixing for long but when I first started I was recording everything in stereo and slapping reverb on everything in sight!

End result was always a mess!

Now I'm learning all the time it's what you leave out that makes it sound better. Of course the good quality BT's make it easier to space the guitars out in the mix.

Mind you it often sounds great on headphones then pretty awful on a hi-fi... :(

I'm enjoying the mixing now as much as the playing/recording :D

    Cheers
    Greg
  • Hi Paul/tucopeat

Just visited your Soundclick page and may I say some damn fine work Sir!

Excellent songs and playing and Fantastic mixing.

Superb vocals, after listening to all your material I hear Peter Gabriel, Billie Joe Armstrong, David Gilmour and Steve Winwood!!!!

Which to me is all good.....DAMN GOOD! Well done sirs!

    :D:D:D
  • Nifty,
Nice job on the cover. The distorted rythm part fit really well.
Did you cover the lead part as well? If so that was very strong indeed.
    Keep jamin!
  • Thanks thatsastrat

Yes I did the lead....can't you tell by the mistakes?

I did all the guitar sounds on the Vocals, Bass, Drums and Keys track.

I had a whole lot of fun mixing it!
I'm loving getting to grips with mixing at the moment.

    Thanks again :)
  • That's some pretty good guitar work there bud. Your tones are really close too. Sounds like you got a good ear. Keep em coming.
    Whatchya using for gear?
  • Thanks Roger,

    I use:

    Ernie Ball Musicman Axis
    GNX3
    Core2 Duo PC
    M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro
    Sonar
    Amplitube2

And some new Pink Floyd - The Wall plectrums that my wife bought me for my birthday! hehehe! :D

I need to get some of my own material down but I do enjoy trying to fit the guitar around a good qualty BT.
