Need a backing track:

Anybody got a backing track for the Jackson Browne song \"The Pretender\"?

  • Tough order, and best I could find is a bt without vocals.
Kinda pricey, not sure if this is helping...but hard to find anything else.

    Thanks 'tou....
That one is the only one I found anywhere. So I choked up the bux and d/l'd it. It WAS really pricey, but it's really pro-quality...
Still. $4.25 for a b/t? 99% of 'em on the web are free. Granted, half of them are crapy MIDI files, but I've gotten some good ones too.
But I couldn't find this one anywhere, and decided to get it. I love this song - I think it's one of the best sets of lyrics ever - and I think I might actually be able to sing it.
So, all of you who anticipate my Mangling posts with breathless anticipation , stand by for a take on this one...

Yeah, but they've been trying to put a stop to that. Because they can sell it at those prices and make a few bucks.

My band's video of a 30-second, low quality, crappy cover of Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion got taken down from YouTube. I think there were others, too. That's how bad it's getting.

I, however, cannot blame anybody for trying to make more money on what is contractually theirs.
  • Hm. That sux.
    But...it's like I always say: \"if there's money in it, SOMEone's gonna do it.\"
Meaning - no matter how distasteful, dishonest, exploitive, or anything something is, if there's money to be made, someone will do it.
Now, you take an honest effort - like writing a song - and the one/s who wrote the song would want to get whatever's due them. And of course they can hire sharks to make sure they get every nickel's worth.

To me, the big difference is if someone is trying to make money of someone else's efforts. Like if someone is SELLING someone elses' songs, or even representations of them.
It's the old saw: no one's gonna care if your band does \"Sweet Emotion\" at a gig. But if you recorded it and were selling it, there'd be lawyers crawling up your @$$ with a microscope.
  • :) I think we should be charging for the advice we offer on here too.
After all, I still have major posting violation fines to pay off, and I think that is why I'm not getting banned.

That's my 2 cents worth of opinion.
Advice would be higher....like maybe at least a nickel. :?

    I've never considered it
  • Opinion; 2 cents
I know the strategy...find a poster who in one way or another becomes so indebted to the forum,
that they have no choice but to finally serve the thankless miserable job as a moderator...for free. :)

    Advice; 1 nickel (5 pence ma'Lord)
Refrain from any more inappropriate posting behavior, gain some meger form of respect, and claw
back one's dignity, before it's too late.

    Epiphany; Priceless
Knowing no matter how profound and dire my predicament remains, I laugh!
HA!...sez aye! Knowing ODannyboy - image_209191.gif - and iliace, must have done something far worse for the fate they must endure.
