Digitech DF-7

I've heard a lot of great things about the Digitech DF-7 pedal. I has the sounds of 7 different distortion pedals:

model based on Ibanez® TS-9*
model based on DOD® Overdrive/Preamp 250
model based on Boss® DS-1*
model based on Pro Co Rat™*
model based on Boss® Metal Zone®
model based on DigiTech® Metal Master™
model based on Big Muff

I've been thinking of picking one up, but I was wondering if I already have these sounds inside my GNX3 with the tweaking of some patches, etc. Anyone know if I can mimic that models on my GNX? or am I better off just picking up the pedal (which I probably will do ANYWAY :D )

Thanks

  • Even though I'll be talking to myself in this thread  , I picked one of these pedals up and it is a fantastic pedal. Unbelievable versatility. You can get an incredible amount of different sounds out of one pedal. I can't recommend it highly enough. It exceeded my expectations.
  • Hey 'ed...congrats on the new gear.
I was gonna say that the GNX models most of those distortions, but they're modeled - meaning they're a representation of those pedals, not the actual ones.
It might just well be that your new pedal does too, but just does it better.
Either way, if your ears are happy, then we're happy. 8)
  • I have the expression factory (whatever that's called, the EX-7), which is really cool. Some of the effects are eh (like the weird space effect), but others sound awesome. And it has some of the same distortion models too, so in the past I've run it in front of the GNX and then use the expression pedal for things other than wah and stompbox pedal as a mute. But the power supply cable keeps falling out, so I stopped using it.
