Power/Volume

I have never played anywhere larger than a pub or village hall type venue, so get by fine with my Marshall JCM2000 60W combo. However, I've just accepted a wedding reception gig and they are expecting 250 people in a large venue. Will the 60W combo be up to it? Should I trade up to 100W?

  • That combo should be plenty for most gigging. Weddings are usually a quieter gig than are bar gigs.. at least early on. As things pick up you may get a tad louder but not usually. Mic the amp and go through the PA for main sound.. reference your amp sound as a monitor.

Amp stand would be good for any combo instead of aiming sound at the floor which makes most guitarists have the desire to turn up since there are no ear drums in our knee caps

    Extension cab is another option.
