2101 Studio MIDI QUESTION

<div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>I am trying to record music now using Mixcraft 4, and am wanting to utilize the virtual instrument fearture using MIDI received from my old 2101, but am having problems getting the software to recognize MIDI coming from it. Sound transfers fine via output, but the OUT MIDI is not working. I am under the impression that the 2101 processor will convert to midi and send it as is, is this correct? Or, do I still need to put some special pickup on my guitar to assist in the process.
