  • I like both of these tunes! Probably the Calm before the Storm a tad better. Anyhow great tones! What patch do you use for these? You do play a GNX4 right? Anyhow it's just neet to know what others use in there recordings as far as patches. Glad you shared these! I enjoyed 8) :D
  • I'm listening to Calm before the Storm again now. It had been a few days since I've heard it NOW I remember all the great things about the song! I was not able for a while to listen to the other song Kathy tune. This songs structure & movement is just awsome! Alot of transitions that fit perfectly! Great job man. You have got a great Bass line in this! I sume you play the Bass line? Acoustic intro realy starts the song off on the right foot & heads it into that Ozzy stuff comming ahead. The drums are great as well! How do you do drums? Always the hardest part for me!
Great mix to! This song is deffinetly a keeper! I'm glad I listened again! I knew I realy liked it 8) Now after the 3rd time thru I'm very much aware of why I like it so much! 8) :D
  • Wow that's awesome. The sound clarity is incredible in calm before the storm. Please tell me how you got that main guitar riff tone, (the one that comes in at 1:20) what patch did you use, and can you send it to me?

Also the drums, how did u do them? What program did u use, Sonar?
  • Thanks for everyones comments. Here is what I know or can remember on bothe songs.

Calm Before The Storm:This is a song that I had found on a external hard drive in a file I forgot I even had. It was one of those songs that you find months later and go umm when did I do that or how did I do that. Few years ago I had a recording software(don't remember the name-costs bout $40)that had some drum tracks in it. When I found this recording in a folder marked \"song projects\" it only had a title of \"New ryhthm track\" I played and added the lead to it and then let you guys hear it. I think the software I used had an \"auto-mix\" button that I prob usd. Thats about all I know except that I used Eric Johnson patch w/ stompbox for the lead. Yes Partch, I use GNX4 with Sonar LE software for recording. I do have a Edirol UA-25 interface, but as of late, I haven't gone thru that source.

Kathy's Song:Again, I used Eric Johnson patch, rhythm w/o stombox, lead with stombox. I used my Epiphone Les Paul and whirlwind cable(if anybodys interested in the cable part). I used drums from GNX4(can't remeber which one). All the patches that I have used have come from GNX4. Drums lately have come from GNX4. Old software that I used, had drum loops that I pieced together to make a song. Bass guitar part I used the Bass patch 22 and ran thru my Epi Les Paul.

I started writing things down in a notebook, but I haven't done that lately. I should do that, considering my memory is not what it use to be.

Again, thanks for the great comments. I will start writing things down, because I know I always ask some of the same questions.
