ATA Rack Cases at good prices

After looking around the Internet for 12 space rack cases, I came across this unit http://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=sar12 at Seismic Audio for $149.00 plus shipping. It arrived today and it seems to be well built. It looks like the same case made by Gator http://www.music123.com/Gator-G-Tour-12U-Cast-Rack-Road-Case-with-Casters-545875-i1152405.Music123 which sells for $460.00 plus shipping. Anyway, I thought the rack cases at Seismic Audio were a bargain compared to the cost of a SKB or Gator case of the same size and wanted to pass on the info in case anyone else is looking at ATA rack cases. It should protect my electronics better than my homemade rack without front/back covers.

I purchased my rack case through Amazon.com and actually saved some money on the shipping as compared to buying directly from the seller's website. They must use different shipping calculators. Since shipping costs can be expensive on these heavier items, a little comparison bottom line pricing can save you money. Take care.

  • I've had dealings with Seismic Audio - I got bass cabs from them, one with 12\" speakers already in it, one 15\" that was empty (I had an Ashdown Blue in waiting). They're not Ampeg SVT's, but they're sound fine, good quality, and were about 1/10th the price of an Ampeg or comparable. I give thumbs up.
  • Hey taus:

Here is the one I'm trying to get

I like the price and it has a top deck mount for the mixer.
  • JimiV, looks like a nice rack unit there, and another good price. I had already decided to get a 32 channel mixing board, so the top mixer rack was not important to me because I'll have to set the mixer on it's own table (36\" long for the mixer itself). The rack unit I got came with 4\" heavy duty wheels, which, at my age, was also a requirement in my purchase decision. I'm a big fan of wheels. I did look at some other racks without wheels, but if you add the price of purchasing the wheels separately, you can easily add another $30 to the cost of a rack. So I was looking for a rack with wheels for my use.

Shredd, thanks for the thumbs up confirmation on Seismic Audio. It seems that they have some good equipment that I can afford. I'm planning on buying a 24 channel snake from them which costs about half the price of Pro-Co and other brands sold on the major Internet music stores. I just had never heard of the company before and thought I got a good deal from them, so I'm passing on my positive experience with the company to the forum in case anyone else is interested in getting good equipment without having to take out a second mortgage on the house. I had good luck and saved lots of money.
