Great BIAB 09 Deals.. with REAL instruments..

I've had Band in a Box since 05.

For those not familiar with the program, it's a great little program to compose chord changes, load songs and jam over them, Use different comping styles, different comping musicians, all in software!!!

You can also save your work to eitthr a BIAB file, .wav file, or .wmv, or straight up midi.. (I usually render the midi file to .Wav's then turn them into ..mp3's so I can carry around and play them anywhere and jam on them..

More info here at PG music..

Great little program for creating changes and jamming over them..
A lot of the midi instruments sounded really good on the old 05 software, but some could be a little cheesy.

The great news, and I've heard it at a friends house is the Real Tracks, which include Real Drums, And real instruments..So when you'r creating your tunes, or loading a B/T from a tune to jam on, you get Real instruments instead of MIDI!!!!!

Ultra cool...

This is really cool for you guys that already have a previous copy or can aquire one...
BIAB 09 is out, with a special offer on the ultra- pak (Everything but the kitchen sink) upgrade... $149.00 INCLUDING an EXTERNAL 80 GIG hard Drive, with ALL of BIAB pre-loaded!!!!!!!!! (offer good till January 15th..)

I just ordered it for my Birthday on the 13th of January!!!

If you haven't used this program before it's a pretty damn amazing practice tool, and with the addiition of the REAL TRACKs You could actually use this to make small club ready B/T's that sound great and not MIDI-Cheesy sounding..

Details of the individual packages can be found here...

Just thought I'd pass it along...
Seems like such a great deal to me!!!

  • I have used BIAB in different versions going all the way back to DOS (around 1988?). Anyway, I agree it is a great program to work up backing tracks to play along with. Great for getting down ideas if you are working on composing a song (not my forte). The real instruments do sound better than the old midi voices off the computer. I usually had a keyboard hooked up to BIAB and used those voices which I thought were good.

For as good as BIAB is, I have never seen much user support for the software. I have looked everywhere for user files (backing tracks) to download for songs like you can for Guitar Pro files. There just does not seem to be what I want out there for the BIAB software. As a result, I have not used my BIAB software much lately. I only have limited time to spend on my music and it's a shame that backing tracks made in BIAB are not available. The past few years I have either downloaded GP5 files or used .mp3 backing tracks/karaoke files I find on the internet. If you know of some good websites for BIAB user files/backing tracks, let us know. It really would make the software much more valuable to those of us who own BIAB.

I think the last upgrade version I bought was back in 2000. I'm sure that the program has improved, but I have not had the time to use it much for myself and without active users sharing files, I kind of have lost interest over the years. If PG Music was smart, they would host a user file sharing forum to keep interest up in their great program. Or maybe they do now? If you know of any file sharing forum/web sites for BIAB, I'd be interested.
