mangling The Classics #23

This is another one I'd like to have done better with - I couldn't find a chick to sing the French bk'g vox, and the bass player I've been playing with lately (who just rips on this tune) can't make it up the road to my house (steep, icy, and he's from Arizona ).
But if I bleach my hair and sneer enough, hott groupies'll never know the difference, right???
Done with:
My Ibanez RG3, Dean Exotica ac/el, and Peavey Cirrus bass, all through GNX4. Roland JUNO-D and JUNO-60. ZOOM drum toy.

  • I like smooth sound on this one, and the zoom drum machine sounds pretty good; it certaintly emulates that 80's drum sound, and the hand claps sound good. Nice bass playing and guitars as well.
  • Very nice Shredd! I realy liked this tune! Sounds like your realy digging that Keyboard! Very good mix as well 8) Just a very clean great sounding recording! How did you do the high female part?

Thanx partchie...I really do dig my new JUNO-D, so much so that I'm using it more than my classic JUNO-60. The 60 is all analog and has very user-friendly controls; using it just makes sense. But the D can do SO much...
And my recording \"skills\" have improved a lot since I started using my Tascam 2488, instead of trying to get my computer to record even a single track. Now I focus on getting sounds down and putting them together, rather than trying to \"restart audio engine\" or \"configure input source\". Now I just play and record. 8)
The high female part? For one, I had to learn how to pronounce French...then I had to guzzle female hormones and put my b*%#s in a vice immediately prior to recording. I had done it on the Roland, but even though it sounded good and was on pitch (unlike me  ), it didn't sound the same without the words actually being pronounced. Kind of like when I covered Learning To Fly, and I did the SBC on my keyboard. It woulda sounded better with actual singers, but I don't know any women who'll even have a conversation with me, let alone sing for me. :?
  • I always like the tones you get from your guitar set up.
I felt the keyboard parts could be further back in the mix.
You had the right sounds going on though.
    Cheers! :!:
  • VERY clean mix! :D

after all of the fussing i do,most of my stuff ends up in the recycle bin :x that and i have no clue how to post it

(if someone could pm me a link or tell me how i could do it,I would appreciate it :D but most of it REALLY sucks and would hurt most of y'alls ears   )

Practice makes perfect...just record stuff you like, work with it, and every time you learn something.
And post anything you want. We're all happy to hear whatever you do. If I can post anything with vocals, it's pretyt unlikely you'd be embarrassing yourself.

yeah, but if the vocals are okay but the song/musicianship sucks then i believe thats bad :( When i first put my studio together,i quickly got 4 songs half-a$$ed recorded to make sure everything worked and it did magnificently :D the problem was that after folks give it a listen, they never give it a second one  So to be honest ,i gave up on it  I thought that ..........well,it doesn't really matter.Even my wife doesn't listen to it :x So as far as I'm concerned i can't be any more embarrassed than i already have been  I'll get one of these 1/2 finished projects up this week and get the honest lowdown from you guys :)

just remember.........i started out as a drummer

Don't feel bad. For all the Manglings I've done, all the original stuff that's on my SoundClick page, I have no reason to think anyone has ever listened to anything I've done more than once. IF they even get through it once.
I put a bunch of originals on a CD, and it made it into the hands of exactly two people, who are surely using it as a drink coaster or dog toy by now.
So...thankfully, I play and record for ME, not them, or I wouldn't bother.
But it really WOULD be nice if Shania would return my phone calls and join me in my hot tub... :?
