Mangling The Classics #22
For your...well, whatever. Suffer with me. If I can listen to it knowing I perpetrated it, then you can listen to it knowing I perpetrated it.
So, another heinous mangling for you to endure. This is a tune I've always loved, not just 'cuz it fairly drips with sentimentality, but has one of the yummiest videos ever.
It also revealed an interesting fact of life.
I always thought I sang terribly 'cuz of my vocal range and the fact that I have a terrible voice.
Well...it's true...but now I'm becoming aware that I sing terribly 'cuz I'm mostly deaf.
You can see why I miss the songbird so much.
And it's not just her museum-quality chest.
Oh well. At least the music didn't suck... :?

Mostly deaf as in you can't hear, or tone-deaf? I can usually tell whether I'm singing in pitch from the way it feels in the throat and diaphragm, regardless of whether I'm hearing myself or not. Except, unlike you, I make appropriate conclusions, and shut up
The music is pretty good.
Basically, I don't hear very well, and for some reason it's worse when I sing, as opposed to using other instruments.
That's why I do mostly instrumentals. THAT'S the appropriate conclusion. :? Go listen to my originals, at SoundClick. They're better. Really.
Sorry shredd after that last one ( Floyd cover ) I gotta ask... You hangin' with Jim? 8) And if not! Maybe give him a call when your getting ready to lay down some vox? Relax some of the tension you might say.....
But hey it really wasn't that bad.. you just seem to drop short at the end of the line. Have you tried arranging in a different key and or a different tuning, might help to get a little closer to your range.
I once heard a comedian do a great bit about Beethoven...he said that ALL musicians are in it for the chix...and while it doesn't explain why he wrote symphonies, it does explain why a deaf guy played the piano...
But the more I listen to this mangling, the more appalling it is - at least from the vox p/o/v. I still have all the tracks, and I'm going to re-do the vox until they don't hurt my head when I play them back.
Amazing thing is...after hearing this, Shania still won't let me sing on her next album, no matter how much I rub her feet. Wench.

So, I just plain don't sing very well. I really like to, I just sound like dung doing it.
I can try to play a song in a different key or tune up/down, use a capo, whatever, but a lot of times these things change the sound of the song enough to be unacceptable. Kind of like my vox.
You can see why I miss the songbird so much. And not just her chest... :?
I really like your slide work vs my string bending for the lead on the first part.
I am doing the rythm guitars wrong. Yours sound more correct gonna have to relearn this one I think. good job. Keep workin on them vocals
Beethoven had perfect pitch.
Just let others tell you if they like your tunes or not. I am sorry but folks who tend to tear down their posts before I even listen to them, makes me not want to listen all that much , or worse, bias my opinion as to whether I like it or not. I wish you would let others listen with unbiased ears, and not dump on your tunes before anyone has had a chance to listen, and judge for themselves as to if they like it or not. Just put your music out there, or go fishin', but don't try to do both, you play to well for that.
Your online friend!!!!
If you don't care to hear about my opinions about my own efforts, don't read them. If it makes you want to listen to the postings, or not - do. Or Don't. It simply doesn't matter.
I play and record for my own personal gratification and I post them here because I know there's some good musicians with good ears here, and I want to see what anyone else has to say about them, good or bad. But I'm really truly not interested in opinions of my manner of posting. Sorry.
+1
Am I supposed to pretend my singing doesn't suck?!? :?
I hope you noticed that I never attacked your musicianship, just your posting style.
And that wasn’t an attack, more of an observation really.
This is a forum where I thought the idea was a sharing of ideas and music.
In that spirit I think “Bite Me” may be a little harsh, but since it is a forum you are more than welcome to your right to voice your opinion in what ever way you see fit.
And I respect that right.
I just say what I think - I'm not impressed enough with myself to think that my songs are stellar, and I say so. I'm not afraid to admit my weaknesses, so it ends up in my posts.
But I'm glad it doesn't affect your ability to enjoy the posts, as they do for iliace, and who knows who else.
Like I've said, I don't really care who listens, or doesn't. I post so that anyone who wants to comment can. I'm sure I could learn plenty from most members here.
