i'm looking for an easy way to convert songs to midi
Me too. But what is it that you want to do? I don't believe there is any software program that can take an audio file and directly convert it to midi. That would be great, but I don't think that exists.
For years I have used Band-in-a-Box to lay down the parts of the song. All you do is pick your rhythm and then enter the chords on the appropriate measures. A basic song can be completed in 5-10 minutes and all the parts can be exported to midi. That is not going to replace real guitars where you bend the strings, hammer on/pull off, etc.... but it's a good start.
I have heard Jammer Pro is also a good program, but I have never used it. Some people use Guitar Pro 5 with it's export feature to midi. I have used Guitar Pro 5, but have never actually written/built a song in that program. But there are 1000's of GP5 files available on the net and you might get lucky to find your song file and export that midi data to your software program. There may be other programs as well depending on what you want to do.
At any rate, you may be able to download trial versions of the software packages to see if it fits your needs. That is the \"easiest\" way I know to quickly put a song together with midi export capability. Hope something helps. Good luck.
