X-EDIT 2 and Vista

Please help. I just recently purchased a laptop with Windows Vista and loaded X-EDIT 2 on it so that I can connect my GNX4 to my laptop. With the GNX4 connected to my laptop with the USB cable, when I run X-EDIT 2 the program doesn't find my GNX4 board. Is this a Vista issue? The program and the board work fine on my desktop computer which is using Windows XP. I have the latest version of X-EDIT 2 and all my drivers are up to date. Please someone help as I want to use my laptop (more convienent) with my GNX 4. Thanks

  • HA HA HA Sounds like your screwed!! Just messin with ya LoL Welcome

I ain't no computer wiz... LoL but I don't think it is a vista 'thing' Why? Because I loaded it on to my xp dt and it does the same thing !! I think it may have something to do with not deleting the previous version not sure haven't looked into it.. it no biggie to me

I just turn off the gnx then back on and it sees it and loads . Sometimes I had to open x edit from explorer  a couple more clicks than from a dt icon.

But everyone here is smarter than me , so maybe they might have some else to say GL mate
  • Connected to Vista, just let Vista ( SP1) find the drivers for you. Don't install the drivers for XP. Remember, Vista was designed to be plug and play for the most part, so items should not require specific drivers. I get the same responses for other gear I run managing Vista and drivers. Let Vista default to what it needs. IOW, just hook the GNX to the PC and Vista will do the rest.

Once you are done, add your programs.
  • When I connect my GNX4 to my laptop, I can see that it has the drivers when I look in device manager. It automatically inserts the following drivers in device manager under the sound, video, and game controllers tab: DigiTech MAC USB Audio Device, DigiTech USB Audio 1-2 Device, Digitec USB Audio 3-4 Device, DigiTech USB MIDI Device (Editor), and DigiTech USB MIDI Device (MIDI). Perhaps there's a driver it's not installing. Anyone?
  • With the above drivers installed as mentioned, I double click X-EDIT 2 on my desktop and it hangs up, saying it is identifying devices, and the only way I can stop it is to go to task manager and manually stop the program from running there.
