Hey Guys,
I always hear about a guitar pedals \"pots\" but the descriptions are always vague. I was just wondering if anyone could fill me in on what exactly a guitar pedals pots are, what they do, and how they can effect the pedals overall sound.

Thanks

Guitar pedal pots are what you smoke so you don't have to care how hard everyone is laughing at you while you play Ace Of Base songs. :P

Uh-yuh. What they really are is variable POTentiometers that take a varying position of a physical device (knob, pedal, whatever) and turn it into a variable electronic output, so that some other circuit can add a variable to the original input. A \"pot\" is the same thing that's under the volume and tone knobs of your git'r, it's the knobs of your amp.
Now, if I'm right, the GNX doesn't even have one in the expression pedal, isn't that right? Smart guyz??
  • Yup your right Shredd. :D The Varible that a Pot changes is Resistance. Most will be rated at what value resistance they can change between. Say 500 ohms, 1Kohm, or 10Kohm to list a few common ones.
  • Thanks for the replies, your responses completely cleared up any questions I had.
  • You're welcome.
So how 'bout setting me up with your wife's hott single friend? 8)
