The Clap

Hey guys
It has been a while since I was able to post anything.

An oldie but goodie. One of my all time favorite acoustic numbers.
Just a single acoustic guitar. Played on my cheap ovation. Hope you guys like it. It kicked my (_|_) learning to play it.

  • Man that was cool Boey! Great playing man! I like the Dynamics in this! I could realy sense you were into it and feeling this piece! 8) Hey that Ovation sounds pretty good! Especially on the full Strummy Chords. What for Ovation is it? You said Cheap Ovation, just wondering? Sounded great to me :D Anyhow I have an Ovation as well a 1778-LXHB it is an Ellite model Op Pro Pre amp Just sounds & plays Awsome plugged or unplugged! 8) Nice to see a new post from you! Take care Boey. :D

Thanks for the comments. I have an ovation celebrity model I bought brand new about 20 years ago for $200. Every time I play a high end acoustic, I cannot believe the difference in sound. I guess I should be thankful for what I have!
  • Boey,
Have not heard this old Yes tune in a long while. I used to listen to this alot. Thanks for posting this one.
  • The git'r sounded good enough...surely a nice Taylor would've been better, but I'm sure you - or your wife - can find something else to do with $4000.

That said - I'm blown away. This is an old favorite of mine - an absolutely monster piece of acoustic wizardry that no casual hack could perform. AWEsome!!! 8)

Reminds me of the time (when I was young and had time to practice stuff ) that I spent most of a summer mastering Zeppelin's \"The Rain Song\", another fairly intricate acoustic piece. It's a beautiful piece, and I had it nailed. And when I think back it's a shame that I didn't have access to some sort of recording; I played it better than most stuff I play now.
And the real shame is that even though I played it beautifully, it didn't get me lei'd even ONCE.

PS you still have the best avatar in the history of the forum.
And the \"PRS Jam\" on your s/c site kicks boots. \"Don't Ask Don't Get\" is also tasty.
  • damn that was a good cover of that old Yes tune. I was always drawn to the ovations back in the 80's. Still like the plugged in sound of them though. Again great job on this cover! I sure it would kick anyones ass to learn this, sounds like a fun one to learn though.
  • bababoey, nice piece to show case! your very good. thanks for sharing bro.
  • Boey, I can't hear the song you put on here--because for some reaon I can't get soundcomm to work. BUT, I did go to your soundclick page and like what I heard on there, so, as soon as I go to the correct forum to correct my listening prob, I'll take a listen to\" The Clap\". Or, you could put it on your soundclick page as well--whudda think??
  • Boey, like my teenage kids say OMG!!!! That was excellent--LOVE IT. How you keep tme that long??
  • Thanks

I am not sure how I keep time that long. I guess I just keep my foot tapping. I am self taught in guitar, but I did take other instruments is school when I was a youngin.
  • Awesome cover as always.

    peace
  • That was great bro.
    Your a really good player.

Ovations aren't cheap - They're just great sounding AFFORDABLE guitars.
It's a good choice for this kind of pickin tune. Sounded awsome to me.
I love my Tak but I wish I still had my celebrity to go along side of it.

Do some double tracks of pickin like this. You would sound really good
if you can do this good with a single!
