Shredd's latest \"effort\"...

Threw this together in a coupla afternoons after meeting a fascinating dude at a major film festival. He'd had a movie made about him, and he made an appearance; I got to meet him and talk to him. Truly a hero among men.

Annnnyway...the song is a little \"loosely\" recorded - I didn't put too much effort into finesse. There's also some brutally abrupt changes, as I was too - um, lazy? unmotivated? - to write transitions between sections.

But I still like it. I used my new Roland on it, which I've only had for 3 days and I'm already just diggin' it. Used my Peavey Grind bass, GNX drums, and my Ibanez Musician (LOVE that ax!!! 8) ) with GNX patches I made myself, and my Dean ac/el.

  • Catchy tune there Shredd. New keybord ehh. Sounds cool.
As far as the mix, sounds like the keyboardist mixed it, Ha Ha!
You enjoy your new toy as well. Gee Partch has a new Strat you have a new keyboard. I guess I have to get busy and record something with my new Telecaster. Isn't GAS great
  • Nice orginal tune Shredd. Loved the laid back feel of this (nice to listen with a coffee in hand this morning!) Saw that you have a new keyboard, sounds great and the guitar Lead sound is actually similar to leads that I use. Good stuff. I'm also a keyboardist myself (actually my main instrument), I use just a keyboard controller with Reason 3 or other Virtual synths for my keyboard stuff now.
  • Yeah I hear ya on the abrupt changes. Did not realy bother me. I like the piece seemed to take you places. Well done Shredd! Deffinetly my favorite part is the Lead & Lead Tone you brought!! Sweet!! You ALWAYS seem to bring nice tasty leads to your stuff 8) The Bass is tight & sounds sweet as well. Sounds like your having fun on the new Keyboard as well! That's awsome! I'm sure more & more.. inspiration will come with this new Keyboard. I dug the Keyboard lead torwards the end & that little run you did! Sounds like some pretty good Keyboard chops Shredd! Anyhow thanks for sharing this lates effort! A good one IMOP Shredd! 8)
  • Thanks for listening guys. I was really concerned that the lack of smoother transitions between movements would make for a choppy, grating song. I just don't have the time to have a song in the can for weeks/months while I wait for Shania to come over and inspire me to write pretty transitions.
More like years...more like eternity???
And yes, I'm having a ball with my new toy - er, synth. I'm sure it's obvious in the way the synth riffs are so pronounced in the mix... But I really did like the sounds, especially in the 'solo' in the last section...and I love how it does decent vocal/choir sounds, which my JUNO-60 can't even come close to.
Thanks for listening, and for the feedback!! 8)
  • lol the changes are not smooth at all. sand it down and itll be nice. very rush. very nice thing on the keyboard at 3:11, looks like you are good enough on keyboard to even out your guitar playin. lol just kiddin, nice though.
  • Shred, nice solo. Get them transitions you were to lazy to do, and lets hear the extended version. Or break it into two songs. Very nice piece!

Thing is...for some time now I've been on an \"old school\" recording kick. The main reason is that I can't get any kind of computer recording to work better than a 3 wheeled car.
Besides that, it's just more satisfying somehow to actually record things, rather than drag .wav files around a screen.
Maybe when Geffen is returning my phone calls and Shania is hanging out in my hot tub after recording sessions, I'll take it a little more seriously...

    Soooo...despite the lame-o recording...howz' the song?
  • Very nice Shredd. Ibanez sounds great--loved the solo. Not bad on keyboards either.

Thanks. And yah, ain't the 'binez a tasty-soundin' rig? LUV that ax! 8)
