RIP Jerry Reed

One of my favorite guitarists has went to the great beyond..
Mr Jerry Reed. Know for his movie roles in Smoky and the Bandit, IMHO one of the finest players to ever pick up a guitar..

  • His guitar playing is a great inspiration to me.
I just love his swamp stompin' stuff.
I met him at a promotional concert he gave before a concert he gave in Pitman NJ. He actually bummed a smoke off me as I was hiding from my Dad ,so I could catch a smoke, behind the flat bed trailer he was going to perform from. Jerry had run out of smokes and was about to go on. He gave me an autograph, which I treasure, and I gave him a smoke.

He was a very nice guy and I wish I could have spoken to him longer.
I saw him the next night and I was hooked on Jerry reed's music for life.

    InSANE. Now that's pickin'.

BTW - where can I get a shirt like Chet's??
  • Sad to read the news about Jerry's Passing.

Well... another Master jamming in Heaven.

    R.I.P. Jerry Reed!
  • You may think this is strange coming from a metal head, but 2 of my favorite guitar pickin' fools were Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed,(I still have couple 8-tracks) don't forget Roy Clark. I still want to see the video of Roy Clark and Steve Martin rippin it up on banjos on Johnny Carson many years ago. Well, Needless to say Jerry Reed will be missed. I am East Bound and Down (very down).

    RIP JERRY
