Mangling The Classics #15
OK...I warned you. This is a Mangling truly worthy of the name.
This is one of my favorite Shania songs, mostly 'cuz I imagine that she's singing to me and means it. Plus, it's a good Mutt song, with the usual great production, use of instruments, and just the right riffs and touches. Check out the \"real\" version if you get the chance.
Anyway, this is one of the songs I useta do with the songbird. This mutilation of a nice song turned out like this for a lot of sad reasons: (http://www.guitarworkstation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8063)
I'm truly ashamed of how this came out, especially cuz it could've sounded so great if I coulda drug her sorry buttocks into my studio for an afternoon. But I really love the song, and of course the songbird could sound beautiful singing Bottles Of Beer on the flatbed of Manitou's truck at 70 MPH.
So...be gentle. I really meant to do better. And send the kids out of the room.

To harsh on your self shred. I thought it came out nice! Granted I don't know the song, for that matter I don't even listen to country. It just comes out of me for some reason  From what you said ....... well I didn't think it was horrible at all , good job on the tracking 8)
Even on these heinous recordings - see link above for the pathetic circumstances we taped under - she still sounds amazing.
I'd have gladly played the wedding gig with her, but like everything else having to do with her, she does whatever she wants, or doesn't, whether you want to, or don't. She once called me a \"music nerd\" for trying to explain a change from G to Em7  .
But listening to her sing is worth a lot of butt-pain. Or even playing Linda Ronstadt songs.
Oh yeah. Did I mention she's hott?
The reason I'm doing all this griping is 'cuz I tried to do a good job on the instrumentals, and they came out pretty darn good...mix, levels, balnace, everything.
Then I go do these fly-by-night vox after months of trying to get her into my studio, and they not only come out awful, but I can barely make them work in the songs.
I finished up another one last night, and it's the same - barely listenable (to me...)...so I'm just doing the best I can with these.
Thanks for listening!!!
The Song Bird Sounds great. The way you dissed this I was expecting something not suited for dog ears. You again are much to hard on yourself.
You guys are way too generous...I find these recordings heinous. If I can do better, they can't be that good.
Then again, I'm comparing myself to guys like kirk and gary c, whose recordings are just stellar.
Anyway, stay tuned for another Mangling, featuring the songbird, coming up soon. I \"finished\" it  last night...
