Have patience, grasshoppa. This is no one-button stompbox. The capacities of this thing are so vast, you might get two months of daily use down the road and still be discovering stuff. So:
Keep the manual handy to refer to, even if you don't sit down and read it. It's dry and bland, but does have handy info within.
Read these forums. I assure you that every confusing thing you run into has been experienced before, and probably posted about here.
Go to DT and watch Anderton's tutorials, they're very informative and will get you using the various abilities of the thing and get you familiar and comfortable using them.

And have your wife set me up with her hott single friend. 8)
  • I've had mine for a few years, and still get surprised with it's capabilities..
  • I joined here 1 ½ years ago, when I got my GNX4.
To be honest, there are still things I don’t know, or haven’t used.
But I set my goals low, and figure I’m almost there.
I’ve forgotten a lot of stuff, and haven’t seen my manual anywhere,
but I’ll be glad to help you anytime, if it’s about the basics. That’s all I really know, or use.

I also need a girlfriend. But most of them are way too young for me anymore….so I’m told.

  • Ya Audio

Slow down and stop trying to learn the whole manual in a week. I say just power it up plug in your ax and start fooling around with the neatO sounds ! There's 99 of them. then start playing with the preloaded drum patterns and kits , then the obr , one thing at a time bro.

You've heard it before ... Have to crawl, before you can walk ... And before you know it your running

Happy experimenting.. And welcome to the forum :)
  • Baby steps, dude. Just have fun and experiment. Like Phoebe Cates sez in Fast Times, \"just keep doing it\".

By the way, don't let 'tou fool you. I need a g/f a LOT worse than he does. :? Just ask 'blooz.
  • I would start with a few simple things first. First get your rig to sound good live. That topic has been covered extensively on these boards. Second, try making your own patch. Experiment. Third, try recording a simple loop and then branch out from there. :)
  • Get to know the matrix. Booting up X-Edit can help with this, as it's more visual. Scroll down to each row, and see what each knob does. You'll start recognizing many settings if you've used stompbox effects before - gain, tone, threshold, delay time, effect mix, etc.

In \"home\" mode, the bottom button that lights white (just above status button) switches the parameter knobs to amp controls. You've probably seen these before as well - Gain, Low, Mid, High, Volume.

Once you start understanding how the matrix works, you'll be well on your way to becoming The Chosen One :D

Also, check out the links in my signature for tutorials and other helpful information.
  • A great help is the tutorials at www.guitarworkstation.com
It has screen shots and explanations about almost everything the GNX4 can do. You may also want to purchase the GNX4 Power Users Guide.
