New short song - Serenity

haven't posted in a long time, good to see some of the same guys still posting on here. unfortunately im still struggling to get where I want to be as a player. Bought a new Marshall JVM 410C amp, which, by the way, is mind blowing. Didn't use any effects from GNX4 just used as a recorder. post chourus added on tracks, mic'ed in front of amp with an E 609 played on the LP Studio. hope to get some better representation of this amp out later. let me know what you all think good or bad i can handle it. enjoy.

  • Pretty little tune there man! I liked the main Chorused Rythem a whole lott!! I thought yoiu played the Lead Melody with good feel! Tones sounded real good as well! Nice post! Thanks for sharing man! 8)
  • Very nice tune, and some decent playing too.
My \"thing\" is that the sounds were muddy; they could stand out individually much better.
Speaking of which - mix was too piled up on top of itself. Try placing the various trax/sounds across the stereo spectrum. Use psilosibolin if necessary. :P
  • thanks for the comments and pointers, i am still trying to figure out this recording stuff, I should probably take more time mixing down. I did another one tonight kind of a monotonous song base but it mixed out very well i thought with a fairly wide stereo seprartion, clean and less muddy like you described. I also retook this entire song idea and added 2 more guitars sounds much better with out the chorus added. Again thanks for the pointers and comments!
  • Don't mention it. I, and all of us, started out making really basic recordings and trying to get a good sound. (except for g, who was recording in 24 trax when he was 6... ).
Just keep experimenting, trying different stuff...the more you do, the more you learn, and it keeps getting better.
I still can't play for squat, but my recording has improved dramatically!!!
  • Nice. I liked at about 1:28 and I think near the end you sort of dropped down. Yeah, I'm new to recording too, and it can be a pain, but it is fun. I spend more time on the production end than anything else.

  • Was this the updated version?
But I liked it! Nice mellow, reminded me of sitting around the crackling embers of a fire (late into the night or early morning depending on your pov.) aka maggot brain

Keep tweaking bsteward, that amp don't sound bad at all!
