Hold Me Close

I recorded this yesterday and finished it off tonight. It's been rolling around in my head for some time. It gave me another excuse to bring out the strat for a few licks. I used the Hiwatt 100 setting on my GNX3000. Tried a few different things with the tones in the last solo.

Let me know what you think!

  • Top Stuff Buzzhaze! Love the Strat Tones! Very nice Riffs you have there! I realy like the Chorus of the Song! It sounds compfortably firmiliar? I don't know just reminds me of something. Anyhow great tune! Very well done man! To some day have half of your tallent & ability will be a good goal to attain! 8) :D
  • VERY tasty. I especially liked the piano parts, and the drums are very good too...

    Ditto!

Didn't really remind me of anything in particular, But as I was listening imo seemed to have a Joe Crocker flavor to it. But I really enjoyed it! 8)

Your solo's were really nice! Sweet bite to 'em really grabbed me in the beginning. Really nice song Buzz! Lyrics fit, what can I say? See you in hollywood! :)
  • This started as a small experiment. I just wanted to see if I could pull off an old style R&B sound and get a better drum sound. I didn't really write solid words, just threw some together that would fit the chorus (which I like) but I wasn't even sure if I could sing that part....it's pretty high and sounds kind of like Burt Bacharach. ha-ha!!! Even the guitar sounds were experimental. They came out sounding pretty cool so I kept them. The last solo still has me wondering if I should re-do it with the tone on....lol

I guess it's all in the interpritation. I only spent a few hours on this. It may deserve more.

Thanks for the great reviews. I was really unsure about the sound of my voice in those high parts in the chorus. It's a stretch for me to sing them. I'm just not that good.

Gimme a break. When I write lyrics it's like a collaboration between Capt. Kangaroo and Milli Vannili.

Really Buzz? Maybe it stetched in a few places , hardly noticable. but you sounded like you! And it's the member music review, Doubt anyones going to expect a song with $100,000 spent in it's production.

I might just post a tune with my vocals! That ought to cure all doubt in your mind about yours LoL!:lol: :P

Seriously Buzz. Compared to most of us, you sing like a pro.
If you doubt it, go back to my earlier posts in Member Music, the \"Mangling The Classics\" series...it's just PAINful...
  • thanks man. I need to get a lot better to really consider myself a pro but I'm working on it. If I keep stretching the limits, they get wider. Singing has never been my strong point but now a days, you need to be good at everything to succeed. lol

I'll tell ya, I felt 3 years of rust falling off my fingers when I was doing the solos on this song. It sure felt good. I don't play electrics near as much as I used to but I think that's going to change again. As I mentioned, I've been working on a Hendrix cover that really lets me rip. It's almost done.
  • 8) Be looking for that Hendrix cover! Will it have vocals as well or just all instrumental?
  • Your vox are great and I love the leads!!! :D I kinda got a Joe Cocker feel from it as well. really nicely done. If I had half your talent I'd be extatic (sp.) Thanks for posting sounds great Buzz.

I will do the vocals as well. It's a tough one to pull off because he hits quite a high range in spots, not to mention the guitar parts. I don't want to copy them yet I want to keep the same feel to the song. It's a lot harder than I had anticipated.

....who'd of thunk Hendrix would be hard?? ha-ha!!!

I did. I tried to cover \"Little Wing\" once, and it was horrifying. Little children were crying in terror.
  • Buzz, you sing on key and (unlike myself at times) you know your limitations. Most importantly, you are pleasant to listen to. Many people have won over plenty of fans with a vocal style as unique as yours. You just need to find an audience that appreciates you the way you are. It looks like you have a good start on this forum.
